The Shepherds Hut is in an area of out outstanding natural beauty on the edge of the Cotswolds, yet just a 5 minute drive from the World Heritage City of Bath.
A real glamping experience, the hut is kept warm with a cosy log burner and snug bedding. While away the evening, star gazing around the firepit, wake to the sound of bird song and fire up the rocket stove for an alfresco cuppa while you watch the sunrise over the St. Catherines Valley.

At the moment we are still welcoming guests, many of whom really need a break from a city environment with access to open countryside and the opportunity to hunker-down somewhere cosy and welcoming.
The welfare of our guests is paramount and so we have implemented enhanced cleaning measures between guests and as an extra precaution we are asking guests to self check-in and to either phone or message should they need assistance during their stay so as to minimise contact.
We can suggest many activities to do in the area which are possible while you are practicing social distancing.There are lots of beautiful walks starting from across the road where you won’t see another soul. We can advise on home delivery services for food shopping and takeaway food and there’s the fire pit and the stars!

The Shepherds Hut is compact and snug. Whether you're looking for a cosy bolthole to return to after a busy day sight seeing in Bath or you want an all out glamping experience, The Shepherds hut is prefectly equipped. Situated on the on the edge of the Costwolds in an area of outstanding natural beauty yet just minutes by car from Bath and an easy drive to Bristol it's a great mix of city break and country retreat.
The Hut has a comfy futon style, king size bed with warm, snuggly bedding. It's kept cosy and warm by the cute log burner and there is an additional electric heater if required during the winter months. The private bathroom is a minutes walk away and has a hot shower and loo. There is a separate area with a sink for washing dishes and a fridge for guest use. Cooking can be done on the outdoor rocket stove or BBQ or atop the log burner. The hut is also equipped with a one ring induction stove and electric kettle for those who prefer their mod cons.
There is electricity in the hut, (charge your phone, make a cuppa if the fire goes out) but no wifi. You can get a 4G signal but why not put your phone away and play cards or scrabble instead!
While away the evenings snuggled around the firepit, gazing at the bright night sky and toasting marshmallows. Fill your hot water bottle and snuggle down for a cosy sleep, listening to the rain pitter-pattering on the tin roof. Wake to birdsong and fire up the rocket stove for an alfresco breakfast watching the sunrise over the St. Catherine's Valley. Hang out in the hut playing scrabble and cards, enjoy a break from your phone and relax with nature. Or, head into Bath for an action packed day of sightseeing and cafe culture.
Breakfast: The breakfast consists of homemade crunchy granola, freshly squeezed orange juice, organic yoghurt, seasonal berries, jam and freshly baked croissants. There is also complimentary tea and coffee making facilities in the hut. Everything you need for breakfast will be stored in your fridge, then just tell us what time you’d like your freshly baked croissants delivered and we will hang them on the door of the hut in the morning- no need to get up and dressed, just head back to bed for a lazy breakfast!
Parking: There is secure, gated parking for 1 car on the gravel drive which is shared with Nimlet Cottage. Please keep the driveway gate closed and clean up after your dog.
There is so much to do in the area:
Bath is a 5 minute drive away with its beautiful Georgian architecture, the famous Roman Baths, Thermae Spa, Theatre Royal and many fabulous restaurants and bars as well as a wealth of independant shops and the world famous Christmas Market.
Dyrham Park (National Trust) is just 4 miles down the road. The ancient deer park, 17th-century house and garden where an historic herd of fallow deer roams freely in the 270 acres (110 hectares) of ancient parkland, full of magnificent trees and breathtaking views. It's a great day out for children who can run free in the Old Lodge picnic and play area, take part in a nature trail and tick off challenges on their 50 things list.
The Georgian town of Frome is about a 20 minute drive and is renowned for its monthly market. The Frome Independent is an award winning, destination street market showcasing the best independent craftspeople, designers, makers, producers and traders in the South West. It happens on the first Sunday of the month and feels more like trendy East London than a sleepy Somerset town with a vibrant and eclectic mix of street food, designer makers and DJs.
Bristol is about 10 miles away and offers extensive shopping, @Bristol- a fantastic family science themed day out, Bristol Aquarium, Bristol Zoo as well as the iconic Clifton suspension bridge among other things.
Bradford on Avon is a lovely Georgian town with beautiful canal and river walks as well as the histroic Tythe Barn and many independent shops.
Further a field is Longleat House and safari Park, Westonbirt Arboretum, Cotswold Water Park, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and many, many more attractions.
