Cozy, romantic, sunny apartment in the middle of Manhattan's historic Lower East Side & East Village. Very near subway. Free wifi. On quiet street in the middle of very hip, happening neighborhood. Perfect for 2, but can easily accommodate 4.
Glad to have you stay at my New York apartment. I think you will find it very charming and convenient.
KEYS -- HOW TO GET INTO THE APARTMENT IF I'M NOT THERE...
The keys are waiting for you in a "key drop" holder attached just to the right of the exterior door. There are two key drops. You want the newer looking one on the right. The code is 01789 (the year of the French Revolution :-) )
Set the combination to 01789, then click the top button down. Please ensure you re-lock the box by pushing the door back in (if the little door falls out, just set the code again, push the top button down, and slot the door back in till it locks. Thx!
The silver key is for the front door. The gold key is for the upstairs door. Only use the uppermost lock on the upstairs door.
Inside the apartment i have left you useful information about the apartment, the neighborhood, and New York City.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE APARTMENT
+ You are welcome to eat anything in the house, as well as drink beer, liquor, etc. just replace it with same or equivalent. Also if you can, please recycle. To the right of the garbage can are two bins: Plastic and glass in the top; paper in the bottom.
+ Wireless internet is available -- network: “Vislumbra” pwd: “amorfati”
+ The couch folds out into a second – and very comfortable – bed. if you want to use it, you’ll need to turn the dining room table 90° against the wall.
+ The ceiling lights can be dimmed. The lanterns and strung lights in the livingroom can all be turned on and off. There’s two simple spots: 1) the red button on the power-strip behind the blue couch; 2) the button on the power-strip just to the right of the kitchen garbage can.
+ You can’t adjust the heat per apartment, but things stay reasonably warm
+ Use air-conditioner if you need to. Also the two fans in the bedroom.
+ Fridge is small-ish and not great at keeping ice cream cold :-(
+ The top drawer of the black dresser is available for you; and there’s some room in both bedroom closets to hang your clothes
+ If you can, please water & spray the plants once while you’re here. thank you.
+ Extra sheets and pillow cases are to the right of the bed and in a secure bag under the purple chair. Extra towels are on the bathroom shelves.
+ There’s an iron and a hairdryer and even a hair-curler above the bathroom sink, if you need them.
+ The apartment is surprisingly quiet for New York, but just in case you need it, there’s a “white noise machine” just under the bed on the right side.
+ No smoking, except on the fire escape (and please take the cigarette butts out of the house, too). thank you.
+ If you break anything, please tell me. As they say, “shit happens.” I just like to know.
+ Upon departure… please put used towels in the bathtub, and used sheets on the floor next to the bed. Thank you.
+ On your way out, leave the key(s) in the key-drop downstairs.
+ The TV controllers are in the drawer to the right of the bed. Feel free to use the VCR (DVDs & VHS tapes are in the back of the closet near the dresser). I have very few TV channels (and no cable package), but I do have Apple TV which comes with Netflix, HBO GO, etc. Netfix & HBO do not charge per viewing, so stream anything you want ☺. Apple TV itself does charge, so if you use it, please keep track and leave some dollars to cover it. Thank you.
+ What else? It’s a lovely apartment and a lovely neighborhood. I’m leaving you a list of cool spots in the neighborhood as well as some New York magazines on the kitchen counter to help you out. Also two books, one a great novel set in the neighborhood, the other a book of classic stories about New York. And a list of best NY movies and best NY songs (according to someone) if you really want to get in the groove. And more…
I'm a writer and activist living in New York City. I love to travel. I try hard to be a generous host, and a responsible guest. I believe hospitality is a sacred commitment. On a good day, I'm funny; on a bad day, philosophical. My New York apartment is warm and cozy, and located in an exciting and historic part of the city. Come stay in my home. I look forward to meeting you. Mi casa es tu casa.
