We are located in the hills of central VT, close to good hiking, skiing and swimming. The yurt is situated on a working permaculture farm. Raw milk, eggs, berries, and veggies are available to our guest. Unwind in the traditional Finnish Sauna, relax by the living pool, or kick back in an adirondack chair looking out at the hills of VT. This is one of two yurts at our place. We can accommodate groups of four by booking both yurts. (See Lower Yurt Stay on VT Small Farm )
We will walk you down to your yurt and give you a small tour of our farm. The yurt is located just past a newly planted plum orchard, lines of raspberries and strawberries on the upper part of our farm. The pathway is mowed and lined with LED lights to get you to and from you car at night. It is a cozy 14 ft custom made yurt. It has a four season insulation kit and full size wood stove to heat the space in the winter. If you are unfamiliar with making fires in wood stoves, we will gladly set up a little "workshop" to be sure you can make a good fire in the stove! There is a double bed with a memory foam topper. The single bed listed is a cot that we provide to sleep a third person. BYO sleeping bag for the cot. We provide complementary tea and coffee and drinking water. There is a double burner propane cook top to prepare food and a cooler to keep beverages chilled. An outhouse is located behind the yurt and there is cold running water spigot at the yurt for three seasons.
WINTER ACCESS: From December to Mid April we generally have quite a bit of snow. Guest who are booking a winter adventure in our yurts will want to check on the trail conditions. Boot packing into the yurt is possible, and some times micro spikes may be helpful. It all depends on what kind of snow year we are having.
We would like our guests to experience the farm and have a taste of living in alternative housing situations. You are welcome to swim in the clothing optional living pool anytime. If you choose to go night swimming please do so quietly. There is a three season outdoor shower located near the living pool and sauna for guest clean up and it provides a liberating experience. Guest have access to the sauna with advanced notice (it's wood fired and we need time to heat it up for you). We will provide you with a refreshing chilled herbal drink for fluid replacement and give you a small tutorial on traditional sauna (as we have many North American misconceptions). We will gladly include you into as many aspects of life on a homestead as you would like. This includes milking cows, gardening, small fruit production, cheese and butter making and food preservation. Activities vary depending on the day or season.
We are local farm and food enthusiasts and stay fairly well connected to this community. We also enjoy the emerging craft brew scene in Vermont, so it is our pleasure to point you in the right direction to help satisfy your food and drink requirement!!! We are around to sell you fresh raw milk, and farm fresh eggs (depending on whether the ladies are laying or not!). We gladly give out recommendations for activities in the area, places to eat, and things to do.
-Our property is very private and very safe. Going clothes free in and around the living pool and in the sauna is the norm for our family and we invite our guests to experience the same freedom. It is a very beautiful freedom we have here. We work to ensure that everyone is comfortable and that we foster a free body culture for those who seek it.
- As of October 2015 Airbnb will be collecting the %9 Vermont Rooms and Meals tax from guest.
We have a small family, so we are quiet and respectful. We do not appreciate loud, lewd and grotesque behavior. It will get you escorted off our property!
