This adorable 600 sq. ft. cottage is set back from the water (about 150 ft.) but overlooks pristine Crystal Lake and the Belknap MT range. It was built in 1933 as a wedding present for my parents and has, of course, had many updates since then!
The "Villa" is part of a group of 3 cottages called Crystal Acres, a name given to the property in 1898 by my grandfather. It offers 200’ of beach front with a gorgeous view of the Belknap Mountain range.
During the summer and early fall, there are lots of activities including swimming from our three piers and swimming raft, fishing and boating, shuffleboard and lots of lawn games. We have a paddleboat, rowboat, kayaks and canoes for your use and we even have a kayak for the kids!
During the winter, however, the other 2 rentals on this property are shut down so it's just our house and this advertised cottage that are occupied. Utilities are included.
Crystal Acres provides easy access to everything you need. For Laconia Bike Week fans, we’re right between Weir’s Beach and the Loudon Speedway. For sightseers, all the attractions in the White Mountains are at your fingertips. Got kids and it’s raining? Try Funspot at Weir’s Beach. Shopaholic? Tanger Outlet is only 30 minutes down the road. But most of all, at Crystal Acres you can just stay put, swim, play and relax.
Laconia and Gilford provide business and shopping oportunities and are only 30-35 minutes away. Concord is the capital of NH and only 40 minutes away.
We respect our guests privacy but will happily visit on the beach, in the yard or in their cottage if they invite us. They are always welcome at our house. We live on the property so are here or just a phone call away if they need anything at all.
The signing of a rental agreement is required before arrival.
Included during the summer are free firewood, rowboats, canoes, kayaks and a paddleboat. Of course there is always the 3 piers, the raft and, oh yes, did we mention the lake?
Wireless Internet is available as is cell phone reception for those on the Verizon network. There are no land lines.
We hope you will be considerate of other guests, follow the beach and boating rules posted in your cottage and be respectful of your cottage's contents and the condition of the grounds.
During the summer we are pet friendly but ask that you not allow pets on the furniture. There is a non refundable $150 fee. There is no smoking inside the building including the porch.
We make sure things are working and clean when you arrive and hope you will leave the cottage as you found it.
For long term renters (2 month or more) pets are considered.
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund. Cancel within 5 days of your trip and the first night is non-refundable, but 50% of the cost for the remaining nights will be refunded.
My husband, Art and I, are in our 70's and in 2002 retired to our family loved and family owned property on Crystal Lake in Gilmanton IW in the lakes region of NH.
We rent 3 cottages that my grandfather had built in the early 1900's and we just love it here.
Although Art taught high school math in CT for 35 years, he loves teaching skiing in the winter but would cave in without contact to his past hiking buddies (he hiked the entire Appalachian Trail in 2004) and his daily walks and pistachios!
I taught PreK, K and 1st grade for years and then stopped to open an Alteration and Tailoring business which I did for 30 years. I still love to sew but now I make clothes for American Girl Dolls and sell them on Etsy. It's also fantastic having time to read, do aqua aerobics and munch on rice chips and almond butter!
I don't think either of us could get through life without our 2 daughters and 3 granddaughters (plus another one in the "oven"). We are so lucky to have them in our lives.
We don't travel ourselves so live vicariously through the stories of our guests. There is nothing like sitting at the beach with a beer (or water) and talking about life adventures. In the fall there is the outdoor fireplace (well, heck, that's good in the summer too).
