Updated 1865 Vermont farmhouse. Two simple, comfortable and clean 2nd floor bedrooms rented together with private bath. Screened sun porch. Light and delicious breakfast of homemade granola, fruit, yogurt, orange juice, toast, jam, tea and coffee. Country setting, refreshing (read cold) river swimming hole, Adirondack chairs, blueberries in season, sweet zinnia garden and big starry sky. Base cost is $110 for 1-2 guests, $15 additional per person, per night after that, up to 4 guests total.
Good for families, friends or people traveling together or anyone that wants a quiet, comfortable base location. Owners on site and available, but plenty of privacy. Kitchen access and refrigerator space. Nice area for walking or running - but mostly people are happy to stretch and relax a bit before heading out on their next adventure. Wood stove in the winter and shoulder seasons to make it warm and cozy. Cool breezes at night in the summer.
Private bedrooms and bath upstairs. Guests have private use of full front porch for breakfast, afternoon or evening sits. Guests are welcome in the big farmhouse kitchen. Explore the yard (ignore the weeds in the garden or pick a few :) and wander the path to the river. Great refreshing (some might say brisk) swimming hole. Sit under the oak trees with a cup of tea and watch the moon rise or the sun rise or the fireflies (June) and after dark you can listen for an owl.
We live a simple and happy life. Private rooms with owner onsite in separate quarters. Respectful of your space but available. Directions, suggestions, interesting ideas etc. available on request and totally free of charge :) We have really loved getting to know people.
Sweet dog on premises who offers no house security at all. We have a good book collection - a little heavy on children's and adolescent literature which is really written for adults. Some people do not want to leave.
Our space offers you two bedrooms with three beds. The upstairs bath is shared between guests only. The space can have a maximum of 4 persons unless we agree to some other arrangement.
No smoking in the house or on the property
I have lived in my home here in Stamford for 30 years. I have updated every room in the house without losing the character. Born and raised in Boston, and although I am a city girl at heart I have gotten used to the quiet starry nights, the sweet smells of the seasons and the open space. I miss the ocean and get to the beach every year Happy to be close to MassMoCA, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and the Clark Art. I love to read, love maps, and am interested in people and what they do. I love the excitement of going to the city, the adventure of getting outdoors and simple things like finding a great local cafe.
As a host and guest, I am low key. I like things simple, neat and clean. I appreciate a connection to people and happy to let everyone have his/her own space.
