The Frangipani is a beautifully located private room with en suite bathroom, boasting tropical garden and river views. Situated at the top of a large garden full of fruit and spice trees, the room has a tropical modernist design, polished concrete floors and air-conditioning. Breakfast of fresh fruit, toast and tea is included in the room rate, and provided with a smile by the host's family, who are always on hand to help with whatever you need. Birds and lizards abound in the adjoining garden.
The Frangipani, named for the frangipani tree in the adjoining garden, has been designed using the concepts of tropical modernist architecture. The space includes one large bedroom with double bed, a modern bathroom, and double doors opening on to a shared outdoor veranda with views of the water and tropical garden. The large garden on the Bentota River provides travellers with a sense of calm and tranquility.

Mango, jackfruit, coconut, guava, pineapple, lemon, breadfruit, ginger, cashew, saffron, and Sri Lankan almond trees can all be found in the garden, as well as a variety of birds and animals. Chameleons, water monitors, squirrels, bats and mongoose can often be seen, and the Bentota River is a haven for birds such as sea eagles, kingfishers, storks, cormorants and parrots.

Basic toiletries (soap, shampoo) are provided, as well as a 5L bottle of drinking water for the room.

If guests would prefer to eat in at night, a homemade Sri Lankan meal of rice and a selection of curries can be arranged at the cost of 500 rupees per person, delivered to your room. Vegetarian guests will be catered for. Please make arrangements with the host at the time of your stay.
Sanjaya, your host, has a range of experience in the Sri Lankan tourist industry having previously managed villas and run tours for international guests. He can offer advice and ideas for activities to do in the Bentota area and beyond. His mother, Shanthi, is an experienced Ayurveda massage therapist.

Your host, Sanjaya, lives with his mother, grandmother and teenage sister in the main house. They have two large and friendly dogs, a German Shepherd named Pinky and a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Heide, and a cat named Tom.
