This modern luxury cabin in the woods is tucked away on 13 private acres of secluded riverfront a little over an hour east of the Twin Cities. Styled with mid-century furniture, a modern well equipped kitchen, a bath with a Jacuzzi for one, heated stone floors, as well as wifi, blu-ray, and bluetooth connectivity to the stereo, this 2 bedroom gem has everything an urban dweller (and their kids!) need to relax, create, heal and come back feeling great!

Large windows immerse you and your loved ones in the wild forest all around you, as you live alongside beaver, eagle, heron, and deer. Two cozy queen sized beds, plump with featherbeds, one in the loft overlooking the river and the starry sky, the fresh air, and the peaceful silence mean you will sleep deeply and restore.

Spend the day lazily kayaking down the river past sandstone bluffs with bald eagles and return to cook and eat a gourmet meal, with a fire in the wood stove while the setting sun glistens on the river beyond. Or bring your laptop to the hammock next to the house and drift off to sleep after a productive and inspired few hours. Watch as the kids fish off the private dock, or explore the the forest and freshwater creek. Enjoy the songs of hundreds of birds in the forest, and the cooling breeze off the river out your front door.

Relax in a beautiful bath with a Jacuzzi after a long day in the sun.When the day is done, slip between the comfy bed toppers and the down quilts in the loft overlooking the river and the starry sky.

This is a quiet space, perfect for creative retreats or meditation, pal weekends, or a romantic few days together. Many people spend their honeymoon or babymoon here. The cabin has a TV with a blu-ray dvd player for your Netflix input. The midcentury speakers can connect to your own music library with simple to use bluetooth connectivity, filling the space with the music you enjoy.

This is also a perfect place for young children to experience the natural world with their parents. There are family board games and classic children's toys for slowing down as a family in the evening or on rainy days.
We have two kayaks for discovering the natural world of this forested river and gliding silently past wildlife of all kinds that make their homes on either side and above you. If you portage, the Hay River going south from the dam in Prairie Farm is an undiscovered gem, and will take you on a day long voyage from one accessible pick up to the next. Bring any favorite outdoor games for playing on the riverside yard. Once you are a confirmed guest, you can view an extensive list of nearby parks for activities like biking, hiking, and a list of restaurants in the area, for having fun if you chose to leave the cabin.
You can arrive the morning after you make your reservation. This river is only a little over an hour from the Cities and a world apart.

I'm a children’s book artist and I purchased this amazing home as a studio and a private retreat for myself and my family. My two children experienced and learned so much about the natural world and it's creatures while playing free and safe here. I love music and art and just soaking up the sun! I was once a songwriter, and I still love to write poetry and play jazz improv on the piano. I’ve spent many years meditating, and love this place for it's quiet and calm, and it's sounds: a million rain drops on the leaves of the forest, the uncommon natural birdsong, or the gentle rush of the breeze off the river.
I’ve enjoyed creating an experience of comfort and luxury here because it pairs so beautifully with the wild environment. I hope you and the people you love will enjoy immersing yourselves in the natural beauty of the land and water, just as we have. Your happiness makes me happy too.
