Elevated light, bright and private apartment with wooden floorboards throughout, set back from the hustle and bustle of all St Kilda has to offer. Located at the rear of a heritage building in the heart of iconic St Kilda, the apartment with bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living/dining and private deck is wonderfully spacious and light. A few minutes walk to some of Melbourne's best cafes, restaurants, landmark locations and St Kilda beach. Great for couples, business and solo travellers.
This is my home and I love it. The apartment is set right back from the main street, along a tree lined path, past the 1860’s bluestone building that was built as a school. The bedroom, bathroom and kitchen are built within the 1860's building that was the teacher’s home, so has wonderfully high 3.6 metre ceilings. The front door is on the ground floor, the apartment itself up one flight of stairs and comprises your bedroom with queen bed and wardrobes, bathroom, kitchen, living/dining area and outdoor deck (with bbq and clothesline) for your exclusive use. The living/dining area is flooded with morning sunlight and with the high windows facing east and south and double French doors to the north, the room is beautifully light the whole day. The view of tree tops and poplar trees makes you feel as though you are nestled in the tree tops. The poplars offer a lovely green backdrop and the rustle of the leaves is a beautiful soundscape when there is a gentle breeze. The deck is also bathed in sunlight in the morning/late afternoon and at various times across the days. The photos in this listing show my home as it is now, but I hope that by November, the kitchen renovation will be complete, with possibly a few other upgrades and new sofa.

As this is a very leafy setting small furry native marsupials (possums) live in the trees. They are very cute and this is an up close opportunity to see Australian fauna. Occasionally they can be a little noisy in the night. They don't come inside, have no diseases and run away if approached. The following information is from the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals) website: "Brushtail and Ringtail possums are native marsupial species that have adapted well to urbanisation and are commonly found dwelling in Australian gardens. Ringtail possums are a social species that live in nests, called dreys, several metres above the ground. They build them out of bark and leaves and usually dwell in them as a family. Brushtail possums are larger, more territorial possums that usually reside in tree hollows. The trees and gardens around our houses provide a modified woodland environment similar to their natural habitat and both species feed on native plants found in abundance in suburban gardens. Many households are fortunate to share their property with one or more possums. It can be fun, especially for children, to learn about them and look out for them at dusk moving around your property and along cables in the street."

I’m originally from Sydney and moved to Melbourne a few short decades ago... I was attracted to all this amazing city had to offer (and still does), with regards to arts, music, food and the four seasons! I love this city and its hidden gems. The cottage certainly fits that description, literally a hidden gem in the middle of St Kilda. I work as an arts publicist on arts festivals and independent shows. I have been fortunate enough to travel a lot for work and pleasure, so understand that where you lay your head can make all the difference to your trip, be it for work or pleasure. I want the cottage to be your home away from home.
