Vintage cottage on historic walk-street - four houses from boardwalk and beach, half way between Venice Pier and Santa Monica Pier - walking distance to everything. You'll enjoy the light, comfy beds (2 bedrooms), remodeled bath's fancy features, kitchen, & garden patio. I live upstairs and exit through laundry room. Remote garage parking provided. Good for couples, small families, solo adventurers, & business travelers. Contact host for additional savings on stays of month or longer.
The cottage has hardwood floors throughout. Original art hangs in every room. The adjacent lot is filled with trees, flowering shrubs and flowers of all colors. During the day you will hear birdsong, at night the ocean waves. Since the cottage faces a walk street, there are no cars allowed in front of the house. Cars are allowed only on the alley behind the cottage. Really an unusual and private get-a-way at the beach.
The front opens into a beautiful patio garden, with space to lounge and enjoy nature. The back entrance is into a laundry area. This back entrance is also used by the owner to access her upstairs apartment.
There is no parking at the cottage. However, I understand that some guests MUST have a car. Therefore I have worked a deal out with the underground garage one block from the cottage. The charge will be about $10/day. Let me know if you need this service so it can be arranged.
I take advantage of many of the cultural offerings of Los Angeles. Therefore I can help you easily use public transportation to get to the Pantages, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the downtown Music Center (including the LA Opera) and in the summer The Hollywood Bowl. I do this all the time!! Also I have favorite activities that my grandchildren love that I can suggest.
I am currently fulfilling a major goal to remodel the rental unit behind my cottage. The process has finally begun after four years in the permitting process with the City of Los Angeles and the Coastal Commission (yes I am that close to the ocean). The building work occurs between 7 and 4 daily, but not on the weekend; the disturbance to the neighbors and to you is minimal. You and your family/friends will use the front entrance. The garden and walk street make coming and going a REAL pleasure.
- I expect guests to treat my home as they would their own home. No smoking inside.
- There is no parking on-site. However, there is an underground parking structure which is close and inexpensive (about $7-15/day). It has unlimited in and out privileges. I can arrange this service and you can pay me when you arrive.
- Public transportation is abundant and easy to use. In 2016 a train to the beach was added to the Metro system, making getting most anywhere easy and cheap.

I'm retired from Los Angeles County Public Health Department. I was Director of Health Education Administration, so I'm an health educator at heart. (I still serve on the Governing Board of the Southern California Public Health Association). My hobbies include piano, watercolor, yoga, creative writing, gardening, swimming, and boogie boarding. I subscribe to all the performances of the LA opera, LA Phil, Pantages and Pacific Resident Theatres. I often see foreign films at the three "art" movie theaters within easy reach. Each year I see all the movies in all the categories that are nominated for Oscars. I love living at the beach and having the great city of Los Angeles in my back yard. "My" city is amazing, and now we are developing a world-class light rail system to get me where I want to go. (Of course it will never be Paris - my #1 favorite city - but I love LA!) The bus systems are quick, helpful and easily accessed near my home. I am making a habit of using public transportation frequently. The weather is always perfect and the people are laid-back and friendly!! I feel blessed to be where I love to be with people I love to be with!!
