Constructed in 1883 at Drum Point to mark the entrance to the Patuxent River, this screwpile cottage-type light is one of only three remaining from 45 that once served the Chesapeake Bay at the beginning of the 20th century. Decommissioned in 1962, the lighthouse has been beautifully restored, complete with furnishings of the early 20th century. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Included in museum admission.

Most days the Museum is quiet. The Lighthouse was moved to this point for viewing. It is a Screw Pile lighthouse and very rare. After viewing the museum you can find lots of food, drink, and fun as you drive Left on Solomon's Island Road. Take another Left on Charles Street and make your way around the tip of the Island for a great view of the mouth of the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay.
