You can't come to Lyme and not take a stroll along the historic Cobb... see the lifeboat, take in the vistas and the boats in the harbour and bask in the best views of Lyme seafront.

No explanation of the name exists, though a man-made construction has served as a refuge since at least 1313. Earliest known drawing, made in 1539, shows a basic shape similar to the present construction, and was built after the westerly gales breached the breakwater in 1824. There have been additions since that date but the major part of the Cobb dates from then. The Cobb was connected to the mainland in 1756 and the North Wall was built in 1823.

Iconic landmark in Lyme Regis. Well known for the French Lieutenant's Woman film. You can walk along the top of the harbour wall weather permitting. In Lyme you can search for fossils either on Monmouth Beach or between Lyme and Charmouth. Beautiful views east along the stunning Dorset coast. Lots of places to eat including HIX Oyster and Fish House.

Scenic harbour wall, Cobb used in a number of film sets. Now probably the fossil finding capital of the Jurassic coast. Old style sea side town, many historic features.
