The Grand Victoria Casino is a 15 minute drive from the Burrow. The casino is pretty large and has a restaurant/bar as well as a buffet on site. Situated on the fox river in downtown Elgin makes it a convenient location for seeing some of Elgin’s other attractions like the Elgin River walk (aka Riverside drive promenade), Festival park, and the nearby Lords park. There are also several great places to eat in this area outside of the casino if you are here during the day exploring some of the other sites. Toom Toom Thai (4 star rating) is a family run Thai food place nearby which is fun if you are looking for a unique dining experience. Their decor is colorful and fun. You can always follow up with some Fanny’s Thai rolled ice cream (4.5 star rating) just across the way for a unique dessert as well. Al’s Cafe (4.5 star rating) is another popular place in the area that serves a variety of American dishes and you won’t have to leave for dessert because this place is also a creamery serving old fashioned ice cream treats. Fun fact: the building is from 1892. Elgin Public House (4.3 star rating) is the local Pub. From the outside and the inside it may look like your typical pub with a casual laidback environment, but the food and drinks here are not typical. Indulge in their upgraded pub food and drinks while still enjoying the laidback pub feel.
