Mount Bonnell, at 785 feet (239 metres), is one of the city’s highest points and features a 99-step climb to the top.
The highest point in the Austin area, this historic site is quite a climb to the top but well worth the effort. Beautiful views, rock formations and people watching
This hiking trail has beautiful views of the river and houses along it. There are quite a few steps to get to the top but once you’re up there there are many hiking trails to choose from and even picnic tables to eat at. It is normally very crowded on weekends so going during the week is the best…
A lovely stop where you can 1) do a small hike 2) enjoy views of the Austin hills, the river, the rich houses underneath :-D , and even one from downtown Austin.

“Zilker Park is where ACL happens, where a great Zilker Christmas Light Show is, where the Stevie Ray Vaughn bronze is. Close enough to Casa Willow and Holly Neighborhood. Google what is happening at Zilker when you come.”

“The pink-granite building is the centerpiece of downtown Austin, perched on a hill at 12th Street and Congress Avenue. Free guided tours are held daily, starting in the South Foyer, but brochures are also available on the first floor for self-guided tours. The Texas Legislature meets every two years, so you’ll have to check the schedule if you want to see an actual session in progress.”
