Absolutely stunning, you truly feel like a dwarf standing next to these beautiful trees, well worth the drive deep into the forest. The road to Big Basin is a little rough, lots and lots of switch-backs and eventually a one lane road. If you gat car sick, bring dramamine and a bucket.

It's a beautiful park for camping, picnicking. It's a windy road to get there but if you can handle the road (which is also beautiful), the destination is well worth it!

This is a great place to see soaring redwood trees. You can hike, just drive through, grab a snack or go to the visitor's center.

This park with the largest trees in the world that are over 2,000 years old is absolutely mind blowing and my favorite place in the Bay Area. Plenty of trails ranging from easy to difficult. About 45 minute drive from Sunnyvale.

State / Provincial Park
“No trip to the Bay Area would be complete without visiting the redwood forests! For nature-lovers, this is an absolute must-see. It’s a bit of a drive to get to this park, but it’s totally worth it. This state park is home to over 40 acres of old-growth redwood trees, and it contains some of the tallest and oldest trees in the entire world. In the early 1900s, Teddy Roosevelt visited this area and helped spur an initiative to protect the trees. They are one of the most spectacular natural species in the entire United States and the Bay Area is one of the best places to see them. ”

“This fine dining restaurant is more affordable than Scopazzi's and is in the next town south - Ben Lomond. It has a comfortable atmosphere and a nice outdoor terrace when the weather is good with a fountain. Their brunch is excellent. ”
