Whether it’s dazzling views you seek, a new dining or shopping experience you’re keen to enjoy or just want to learn some history, Plymouth’s Waterfront destinations offer something for everyone. Each part of the Waterfront has a different story to tell. Yachts, fishing boats, boat trips, fishing trips, shopping, eating out. The old historic harbour centre. 35 minutes walk, buses run every 30 minutes, or regular ferries from Royal William Yard (not in winter).

No trip to Plymouth is complete without a visit to Sutton Harbour and The Barbican, with its fascinating maritime history and fantastic range of restaurants, shops and attractions. The iconic cobbled streets and centuries-old buildings offer visitors a glimpse into the city’s past as a port of major historical significance. Sutton Harbour is the birthplace of modern Plymouth, played a major role during the defeat of the Spanish Armada and was the port from which the Pilgrim Fathers left aboard The Mayflower on their voyage to the New World. You can drive or arrive by ferry from Royal William Yard or Mount Edgcumbe Visit the Plymouth Gin Distillery and have great fish and chips at Rockfish
