One of my favorite spots in SF! Take the dog, kids, picnic and walk right up to the golden gate. You could even walk or ride a bike over it from this place. Lovely beaches, a cafe and an old fort are some of the other attractions. You can often see seals, dolphins and sharks swimming about here…

Best views of the bay and Golden Gate Bridge. You can walk down to the beach. Public restrooms are located at Sports Basement, Crissy Beach and at the volleyball grass area.

Favorite beach nearby. Parking available. Dog beach. Bathrooms on site. This is also a starting point for a trail to walk all the way to the base of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Sandy beach & kitesurfing hotspot with a Golden Gate bridge backdrop, picnic tables & a promenade. Great place to take a long walk and see the amazing Golden Gate Bridge in the back drop!

Gorgeous historical area. There's park land, beaches, Fort Point, a climbing wall, trampoline house, great visitor's center and beautiful views. Crissy Field Beach has very gentle waves so it's safer to go in the water. Do stay with your kids, though, there are drops beneath the water. We've spent…

“Beautiful (and easy) hiking trail overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. Pick a sunny day for the views although I also love the misty fog or as we call him, Karl the Fog! He even has his own instagram @KarlTheFog ”

“The de Young often features traveling exhibits from all over the world. It's in a fantastic modernist building which has a tower that you can go up (free of charge) for a great view of Golden Gate Park and the surrounding city.”

“What to say? One of the great parks of the United States. Just head down the hill to Kezar Stadium (at the very bottom of Willard Street) and you'll see the GGP right beyond it (walk around Kezar to the west to enter the park). You can also enter on Stanyan and Haight (and at many other points). Enjoy the Academy of Sciences, de Young Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, Stow Lake, the Conservatory of Flowers (great night time light shows in the summer and winter) and many, many other features of the park.”

“@ Andy Goldsworthy Art @ One of my favorite hidden gems in San Francisco is the artwork by Andy Goldsworthy Art in the Presidio. Goldsworthy is a British artist that uses the surrounding environment to craft his art. He uses sticks, mud, leaves, and other items for his pieces. He currently has four pieces on display in the Presidio. They are called Wood Line, Spire, Earth Wall, and Tree Fall. The first three are in the open and on display all of the time. The fourth is inside a building which is open on the weekends. All four are free. Location: Presidio Hours: Open 24/7 ”

“San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge serves as the iconic symbol of the "City by the Bay." It is one of the most visited attractions and visitors love photographing it, walking across it, and learning about Golden Gate Bridge history. It's one of the world's most beautiful spans. The real "Golden Gate" is the strait that the bridge spans. It was first named "Chrysopylae," meaning "golden gate," by Captain John C. Fremont in 1846. Golden Gate Bridge Vista Points These are the two spots most Golden Gate Bridge visitors like to go the most: South (San Francisco Side) Vista Point: Parking spaces are almost always full, spaces are metered and if you let the meter expire, you'll pay a fine that could cost as much as a meal in a very nice restaurant. You'll find restrooms, a gift shop, cafe, and an exhibit showing the cross-section of a bridge cable. If you find this parking lot full or if you want to spend more time than the meters will allow, try these options: Drive away from the metered lot and turn left out onto Lincoln. You will find a gravel lot a short distance away on your left. If you are approaching from the Presidio on Lincoln, the lot is just across from the two-story houses that were once the Presidio officer's quarters. Weekends and holidays ONLY, you'll find more paid parking in a nearby satellite lot on the southwest side of the bridge. From there, walk toward the bridge and through the underpass to get to the vista point. North (Marin Side) Vista Point: Parking is free for up to four hours and there are restrooms. This lot is accessible only from northbound US 101 and if you drive across the bridge and plan to go back into San Francisco afterward, you'll pay a toll. The toll booths are all-electronic, so it isn't quite so easy as pulling out some cash. Find out how to pay in the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Guide, which is written with an out-of-town visitor in mind. ”
