It is away from the pedestrian mall so less drunk college kids. Still a little loud but large so less chance of claustrophobia like downtown bars. You have to get your own food which is a little different.

A restaurant and tap room that is perfect for a bigger group. In the summer, take advantage of the sprawling patio. Otherwise, enjoy the expansive inside with a casual atmosphere with shuffleboard and ping pong.

Large outdoor area with several fire rings. Great food. Parking is minimal during busy hours, so we recommend car pooling or Lyft/Uber there and back.

Big Grove offers a huge variety of beers brewed on site. The menu is an eclectic mix of international-inspired bites (we like the banh mi sandwich, the paneer curry, and the tacos) and pub favorites like chicken wings (cauliflower wings for the veggie lovers), burgers (Impossible patties available, too), and delicious fries. When the weather is nice, there are ample outdoor seating options. Hint: after dining at Big Grove, kids and adults will enjoy a short walk to the unique Riverfront Crossing Park (1001 S Clinton St, Iowa City, IA 52240). Connect to the paved trail from the back of the Big Grove parking lot.
