This high-rise was Havana’s first and, from 1932 to 1956, its tallest. It introduced the concept—new at the time—of mixing residential and commercial uses. The base floor held retail and restaurants while homes sat above. The penthouse has astonishing views of the city and sea. An essential feature of the Havana skyline. Many locals live here to enjoy the experience of high-rise life in Havana. The Lopez Serrano has its own neighborhood committee to safeguard the building and provide guided tours of apartments outfitted with art deco furniture original to the period.
