Just down the road in Bernalillo, you'll find these historic Tewa Indian ruins and a pretty view of the Rio Grande.

You can see an ancient pueblo and go inside a kiva. Original and very rare kiva paintings from the site are on display. Great views of the Sandias and the Rio Grande as well.

The Town of Bernalillo and the State Transportation Department are perpetuating a pattern of auto-oriented retail sprawl along Highway 550, necessitating the present bridge widening project and construction nuisance. However, this ancient pueblo site, located overlooking the Rio Grande just past all the nonsense, is well worth your time. Especially if you haven't got much of it.
