The Senate House State Historic site reflects the Dutch way of life that characterized Kingston in the 18th century. More importantly, it was the meeting place for the original New York State Senate. History was made here as colonists shaped a newly created government. Nice collection of colonial-era artifacts, furniture, and portraits.

An interesting look back to not only the history of Kingston, but to colonial times. They have regular tours that are short and sweet.

This historical gem was built in 1676. Not only are the grounds a popular wedding venue, but this was also the meeting place for the original New York Senate when Kingston was New York's first state capital. Tours are available year round for $4.

Shortly after Kingston became New York's first capital, the NY Senate rented space here before they were forced to flee when the British torched the town.
