The national monument Haraldshaugen, locally also known as Haraldsstøtten, is a monument commemorating Harald Hårfagre's unification of Norway in 872. The support was unveiled in 1872 in connection with the millennium anniversary of the battle of Hafrsfjord, where Norway was united into one kingdom.

The first Norwegian king is buried under this monument. The large monolith represents the king, while the smaller ones represents the local kings that were defeated or merged when King Harald united Norway to one kingdom. The monument is located just a few hundred meteres from the coast, and offers beautiful scenery and hiking trails

Haraldshaugen and Haraldsstøtta with its beautiful walk along the ocean. Here you can walk/bike to Kvalen Fyr (lighthouse), its just as beautiful to watch the sunset here as it is to go for a walk when the rain is poaring down.
