Charlotte's new "B-Cycle" is available at several places downtown and in the southend. Rent great bikes by the hour. One easy to find Station is at the Seventh Street Market. Bike down to Southend, then leave the bike at the Camden or West Blvd drop off points. Take the Blue Line light rail back to 7th Street Station, and the "Gold Rush Trolley" home (on Weekdays 7 to 5).
