If you enjoy hiking and exploring, this small, little-known nature preserve is a fun option. There are no marked trails;!it gives a flavor of what the Outer Banks used to be before development.

This is located on 10th Ave and great for hiking dunes to the sound.

Similar to Jockey's Ridge but without the crowd. A quiet nature preserve tucked in behind the busy roads with open and and walking paths. A fun place to explore nature. Be advised - some steep, sandy hills may not be appropriate for all.
