Hike Table Mountain with a Guide
We will hike to the summit of the iconic Table Mountain and experience why it's one of the New7Wonders of Nature.
We will take our favorite more easily missed paths to the top. There are many routes that go up and together we will find one that suits your skill and confidence level. The trails all include a combination of hiking, varied levels scrambling and exposure to heights that will allow us to reach incredible viewpoints of Lion's Head, Twelve Apostles,
Camps Bay, Back Table, and the Mother City. If you have a specific route in mind we can help you determine if it is suitable for you. The trails we do include India venster, Kasteelspoort, Skeleton gorge, and platteklip gorge but if possible and you are able we can do some more wild options.
En route, we will take you into the world of the breathtaking Fynbos Floral Kingdom and the very first occupants of Southern Africa who named the mountain 'Hoerikwaggo' or Mountain in the sea.
Once we reach the summit we will go to one of the awesome viewpoints to take some summit photos or just enjoy the view from the top.
If the Cable Car Station is open then the hike will finish there, where you can then spend some more time at the top and soak in some more views or go and enjoy a well-deserved treat from the restaurant, my recommendations being their coffee, cold beer, appletiser, and milk tart.
Other things to note
Experience duration is dependent on the route and guests fitness and should take between 3-5 hours. The experience ends at cable car, if its closed then please add another 1-2 hours for the hike down.

India Venster Sunrise Hike up Table Mountain
Pull on your trail shoes and join me, Justin Hawthorne, for an epic day hiking and scrambling up the iconic Table Mountain, a "New 7 Wonder of Nature", via the INDIA VENSTER route - a truly unbeatable Cape Town experience!
We meet at dawn and set off under twinkling city lights before watching sunrise from the lower mountain slopes.
During the hike we'll discuss the local fauna & flora that occurs here. Some days we'll get treated to wildlife sightings such as the infamous Himalayan Tahr, a charismatic Caracal or an agile Klipspringer, but the focus will be on the world-renowned vegetation covering the mountain slopes - FYNBOS! This is a nature experience where you will have the chance to come away with a good understanding of the rich biodiversity found within the Cape Floristic Region - a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This is an incredible off-the-beaten-track hike with breathtaking views & scenery but it is demanding in terms of being strenuous (760 m / 2500 foot elevation gain), some exposure to heights (sheer vertical drops) & technical hiking (using your hands to scramble rock pitches, and rugged trail) - that's where I as a guide add peace-of-mind in walking you through the adventurous spots.
After reaching the flat topped summit we will descend via cable car (R220 per person), or if it is not operating due to high wind we will have to hike down via Platteklip Gorge.
Sunset Biking Under Table Mountain
Riding off the beaten track on dedicated trails directly under Table Mountain. This off-road route meanders through the National Park under the tower mountain, requiring special access permits and offering vantage points few tourists get to see. Although not very technical, the moderately challenging ride climbs some steep gravel sections and are sure to crack a sweat. Along the way, we will stop at some breathtaking hidden locations high up on the mountain. I'll share coaching tips and we'll break for a beverage and snacks at a historic fort before descending towards the setting sun.
Other things to note
Need to be comfortable on a mountain bike. Bring comfortable riding clothes (chamois-padded pants, lightweight fast-drying top, warmer top) & sport shoes. If my dates, don't suit you please contact me

Fynbos hike at Silvermine
This is a wonderful opportunity to hike in a quieter area with unparalleled views of the central Cape Peninsula & Hout Bay from Noordhoek Peak! All the while you'll be hiking with a literal Silvermine local - we actually lived within the National Park in what's known as the Silvermine Valley. This area was Justin's childhood turf & Mark's office where the mountains were an extension of our garden.
We'll spend the morning hiking a circular trail through diverse mountain Fynbos (pronounced: fain - boss) in the Silvermine section of the Table Mountain National Park.
The emphasis is on looking at the details of the unique biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom & we'll be stopping as we hike to chat to you about the different floral species we see within the Fynbos Biome. We'll walk you through just what makes Fynbos, Fynbos! Depending on the time of year you may see anything from beautiful little blue orchids to magnificent giant pink proteas. Wildlife is shy however we'll listen to the beautiful sounds of frogs and birdsong, and perhaps catch a glimpse of a small mammal.
Our 7 km (4.35 miles) circular hike is on standard but rocky and rugged trail, gaining 300m (1000 feet) in elevation to the peak before returning at an easy pace.
In the warmer summer months bring swim gear as you may want to jump into the recreational Silvermine Dam at the end of the trail - reinvigorating!
Adventurous Hikes up Table Mountain
I will tailor make a unique expedition specially for you - the trail will be chosen based on your hiking experience, preference for exposure, sun or shade, etc.
Along the way, you will be introduced to the most concentrated and diverse floral kingdom in the world and possibly meet the Table Mountain wildlife, such as cute dassies or beautiful Himalayan Tahr. We'll have lunch in a stunning spot with a view over the Mother City far from the crowded commonly used paths.
For Sunset hikes or dedicated group hikes please message me, and together we can design your perfect adventure. I will happily refund your money if you’re not satisfied.

Drumstruck - African music & drum show with wine tasting
Drumstruck is the most authentic and fun African experience in Cape Town.
After you arrive, Silvermist winemaker, Gregory Brink Louw, will entertain you with stories of the Constantia Valley while you taste the sensational wines of the area and take in the majestic views.
Then, you will embark on a unique African musical journey with 'Drumstruck'. Straight from Broadway, Drumstruck is the first interactive drum-theatre experience with a drum on every seat so that the audience becomes part of the show.
Facilitated by some of South Africa’s top percussionists and performers, the show creates a sense of Africa that is undeniably genuine and heartfelt. Audiences enter a space where an extensive and rare collection of indigenous African instruments is displayed, and are taken on a journey through the musical heritage of Southern Africa – from the first drum through to the newest high tech electronic drums.
Each audience member is provided with their own djembe drum and gets to play and sing along with the show, sharing in the collective celebration that exemplifies African music and culture.
A perfect show for people of all ages - great for kids and tour groups. "Unmissable!"
“It is more than a show… it is an experience. 5 Stars” Broadway Baby
“You will be Dumbstruck by Drumstruck.” Dolly Parton
Jamming on African Marimbas
You will arrive at the beautiful outdoor garden setting of the Montebello Design Centre in Newlands.
The marimbas will be set up under the trees surrounded by small curio shops and a shaded playground for the kids. If it rains, we will move the activity indoors to take place in our music studio.
We will start off with an introduction of the different types of marimbas and their unique qualities.
Guests will then choose which marimba they would like to play: soprano, alto, tenor or bass marimba.
We will then teach you how to play a well-known song.
We will also share a bit about the history of marimbas with you and its journey through Africa.
We will end by playing through the whole song and recording a video of you / your group which you can keep as a memory.
You will leave feeling energized and filled with joy at having experienced playing this beautiful African instrument!
