Edible mushroom identification and foraging
Edible mushrooms in Sweden. It's mushroom season! Let's forage for some of Swedens delicious mushrooms.
I will take you to some of my favourite spots in the forest and tell you how to easily identify the most common edible mushrooms. I have a deep interest in edible mushrooms and know how to differentiate them from the ones you should stay away from.
Depending on what we find I will teach you how to identify it yourself so that you can feel confident on your own. Some edible examples in "my forests" can be Winter chanterelles, Penny buns, Yellow foot , Hedgehog mushroom, Sheep polypore, the cauliflower mushroom, different kinds of Brittle gill , Slimey spike cap, and more. As always with mother nature there are no guaranties for big findings or good weather ☺️
In spring and summer I can tell you , if you are interested, about some medicinal plants along the way.
We will also have a small Swedish fika set up in the forest. Please tell me if you have any allergies.
We will meet up at our Timberhouse and walk or drive together to my mushroom spots. Clothes suitable to the weather and hiking boots/rain boots. You can borrow knife and a mushroom basket if you don't bring your own.
I am usually flexible with the time if you need a different time to meet.
Looking forward to sharing the beautiful surroundings and my knowledge with you.
A cultural walk through Malmö
We will start with a brief introduction of the city of Malmö - its history, its place in Swedish society and its cultural traits. We will then proceed to the different landmarks of the city through routes seldom known to tourists and at each stop I will talk about the significance of each landmark while sharing some interesting and funny trivia. The tour will cover both the new and the old parts of the city highlighting the major landmarks and their significance to Malmö and Sweden. I will also provide an in-depth look into Swedish society and share its many quirks unknown to outsiders. I will take the guests through streets that are hidden away behind buildings and seldom accessed by anyone except residents, showing the guests the art, the nature, the places of recreation, and the unique architecture of the city.
I will also offer recommendations for cafes, restaurants, and shopping centers as we pass them along, and other places to visit around the city. I will make the guests feel at home and take a walk with me through this beautiful city I call my home and I hope they bring back a little bit of Malmö and Sweden with them, along with some souvenirs and a smile on their faces.
Abandoned mine and Swedish fika by the fire
Come with me to an abandoned copper mine and enjoy a Swedish fika by the fire afterwards. We might see bats and toads inside the mine and will make sure you leave with great photos and memories of this special place.
We meet at my home to supply you with rubber boots and flashlights. From there we drive to the mine for a personal tour. We go through the old mine shaft and into the beautiful open space at the end. After we have enjoyed this special feeling of being inside the mountain we go back outside for a toasted cinnamon bun over the fire. I take care of everything and all you need is an adventurous spirit and some warm clothes since it’s always chilly in the mine.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE SEALS? AND ABOUT BABY SEALS? EVERYBODY, RIGHT?
They are amazing animals, cute and funny, and seeing them close it's an unforgettable experience!
What we will do:
I'll pick you up at 8 am at your accommodation in Malmö.
We will drive for about 35 minutes; then we will leave the car and start a walk in the beautiful nature reserve, surrounded by the sea.
While following the long peninsula, we can spot some of the birds breeding in the area, and at the end, we will approach a large number of seals.
To not bother the animals, we will keep a safe distance, but don't worry: seals are very curious animals and will come close to us swimming along the shore.
We will spend some time watching these beautiful mammals, inside or outside the water, while I will give you some information about them and the area.
To make your experience even more unforgettable, I'll give you the possibility to use my professional gear (a Nikon D500 + super tele-zoom 150-600 mm). I will help you to optimise your photographic skills: you'll have the opportunity of beautiful close-up shots that I will send you in a couple of days (after working on them).
Depending on the weather, we will start going back to the car and then to Malmö.
Please note:
It depends on where the seals will be, but the walk can be up to 7-8 km (in total).
White fallow deer and so much more Scandinavian Wildlife
PLEASE NOTE THE TIME 9-16 + THE POSSIBILITY TO HOST UP TO 8 PEOPLE
CONTACT ME FOR AVAILABILITY
I'll pick you up at 9:00 am at your preferred location in Malmö; we will drive for about 40 minutes to reach our destination area around a lake surrounded by forests and beautiful countryside.
We will first focus on spotting and approaching the white fallow deer exploring the area and the places where they live, and where it will be possible to see other animals in the wild. We will then have a coffee and breakfast in a natural reserve close to a river where few birds such as grey heron, different ducks and goose, common kingfisher and others live and where it's common to see birds of prey and even eagles.
We will then take an adventurous trek into the forest, following the trail of deer and fallow deer and approaching them very closely. The land is primarily flat and does not present difficulties but allows you to enjoy the beauty of the different types of woods on the Swedish territory. The probability of spotting animals, especially ungulates, is 95-100%.
After this short trek (the distance will be based on the guest's possibilities and on how many animals we can approach), we can visit, during the migration time (spring and autumn), a close lake and swamp where it will be possible to spot many different birds and also many storks living in the area.
Forest walk, fire techniques and a hidden ravine
Let us show you our magical surroundings and enjoy a meal by the fire together. We will walk with you through the untouched forest and show you our private and favorite spots in nature.
We start the journey at our house by the river. From here we walk past the beautiful lake and into the forest. I will tell you about my love for nature and the plants, trees, birds and animals around us here. After about 30 minutes we arrive at a ravine in the forest. You will now learn to make a fire using a fire stick, birch bark and fatwood. I will take you through the process and together we will make two fires. One for the organic coffee and one for the lunch.
While you explore the beautiful surroundings by the ravine, I will cook you a delicious meal over the fire you started. We always make sure everyone leaves with a full stomach.
After our lunch we will take a different path home and see meadows, small streams and a beautiful stone bridge from the 1600s.
Unique escape room in a caravan
A unique and special take on an escape room! A caravan with a fascinating 70's style interior. The guests will solve tricky challenges and clever electronic puzzles. Unlike many escape rooms, Escape Husvagn is not about escaping and getting out, but instead solving all the puzzles in one hour to "solve" the room.
At arrival the guests will be warmly welcomed and we will go through the rules, and we will tell a background story about a dramatic Malmö spy drama which took place in the 70's.
The mission will be to find and disarm a nuclear bomb in less than 60 minutes. When the guests have entered the caravan and the time has started, the hosts will go over to a control room where we follow the guests' successes and failures throughout the game. We are in constant contact in various ways to help the couple with clues to solve all the riddles.
To tackle the challenge, whether you win or lose, will strengthen your team building and cooperation. In Escape Husvagn, the journey is the goal!
In the caravan escape room, there are no strong physically demanding tasks to be solved, no training or preparation is required - come as you are. If you want to know more about how it works or read the background story on our spy theme, find our website by googling Escape Husvagn!
Eagles, buzzards, and falcons (oh my!)
PLEASE NOTE THE POSSIBILITY OF HOSTING UP TO 8 PEOPLE: CONTACT ME FOR AVAILABILITY!
I'll pick you up at 9:00 am at your accommodation in Malmö, and we will drive towards the first birds of prey watching area, about 25-30 minutes from the city.
We will drive around and stop in different strategical places to look and photograph the various species of eagles in the area (sea eagle, golden eagle), where there are also other birds of prey (buzzard, red kite, peregrine falcon, kestrel and many others) and numerous other animals (roe deer, fallow deer, deer, pheasants, hares and so on). It is also an excellent district with lakes, woods and hills, allowing incredible landscape photography.
Based on the season, we will move to other areas nearby to follow the movements of the eagles. This site is also critical in the European migration flow during spring and autumn.
Please note:
Right now, there is a large group of white-tailed and golden eagles in the area we will visit; I see them every time I go there!
I will adapt the tour to give you the best opportunities to see the animals based on the season and my knowledge.
Motorboat cruising in beautiful archipelago on sundeck
(From Monday the 25:th of september onwards, the experiance will be changed to lobsterfishing in the sunset)
Go for a tour in the archipelago with a comfortable Aquador 23 motorboat with toilet. On sunny and warm days, you can enjoy the wonderful feeling of driving with the canopy down. The canopy otherwise protects against rain and wind.
You decide what to do; Try SUP (Stand Up Paddle Board), fish for mackerel with a lure or throuth with fishing rod. Maybe just cruise around and enjoy a cold beer/white wine(included in price) in the sun, the nice surroundings or watching the sunset. Or why not take a swim directly from the boat followed by a hot shower on the bathing jetty?
We normally see seals but with some luck we can see whales (porpoises).
As this activity is weather dependent, we can talk close to departure date to decide when the weather forecast is certain.
There may be the possibility of filming with a drone for an extra fee, depending on weather and availability.
We meet up in the harbor (see indicated position). The public transport bus stop is called Sandö.
I can go longer for an extra fee and pick you up/go to other locations, example central Gothenburg Harbor or restaurant at Vrångö.
If suitable time and date is not available, just ask if possible.
We offer AIRBNB accomodation; search valldavägen
