We really enjoy taking our grandkids here. It is so close and easy to get to. It's a small zoo so it is great with families with small children and short attention spans. There is petting zoo, monkeys, turtles, camel, lions, jaguars, etc... You get to see the animals up close unlike most zoos.

A tourist said this about their experience, "What fun entertainment after a long day of working a conference! Four very talented musicians will entertain you on the pianos, drums, and guitar. They all play all instruments and switch all the time. Take dollar bills. You write your song requests on a slip, attach a dollar, and they play requests. Fun sing-along! They do not serve food, not even munchies, but they do allow you to bring food in. We got take out from the Hard Rock Cafe, next door. Others were ordering pizza. Don't go for the food, go for the entertainment! You'll be glad you did!"

This is the perfect summer outing in so many ways! The water is cool, not too cold, like some other local water holes. It's clean, well taken care of, and so refreshing. There are two rope swings which lead to loads of fun. There is a smaller swing for the kiddos and then a larger swing for the more adventurous. My kids went of the smaller one like a hundred times each. Adults going off this one have to pick up their legs so as to not drag them in the water. The higher one is tons of fun and gets you high enough to do flips or dives into the water. The entire river is in the shade! Huge trees fill the banks keeping the sun off your shoulders while you are in the water. No sunburns

Originally a rock quarry, part of the tea garden came from a donation by George W. Brackenridge and another section from Emma Koehler. In 1915 Ray Lambert, city parks commissioner, thought it would make a nice location for a lily pond. Ultimately, it grew to become a tea garden. The latest renovations began in 2007 and cost about $1.6 million, compared with the $7,000 Lambert originally spent to open the park. It is a Registered Texas Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places.

They will give you a great history of what you will see and how the San Antonio fire department started as a volunteer organization and then businessmen to a full-time organization to the large organization it is today. They have some equipment from the old days thru the years and today. Great opportunity to pose in fire gear. Great place for kids of all ages. Great pics of firefighting through the years. Honors for those that have fallen during the history of the SA fire department. This could grow into even a better place in time.
