Sightseeing
Like most of New York City, Dead Horse Bay has a long history of changes. Over the years, much of old New York has been torn down, replaced, torn down again, and replaced again by new buildings and people, and the layers of history are all but forgotten. Not true at Dead Horse Bay, where remnants of the past litter the beach today.

Parks & Nature
As Brooklyn's largest park, Marine Park has plenty of room to serve a lot of needs.
Environmentally, it consists of 530 acres of grassland and precious salt marsh, protected as a Forever Wild preserve. The Urban Park Rangers present bushels of educational and fun activities in its Salt Marsh Nature Center each week, and interested, independent visitors can wander along the Salt Marsh Nature Trail to observe unique regional flora and fauna.
Recreationally, the park offers amenities as varied as a golf course, bocce courts, cricket fields, and baseball diamonds, to name but a few. The park also contains multiple playgrounds, bicycle greenways, and a launch and landing site for canoes and kayaks.

Although Brooklyn is known for its bespoke goods and main streets filled with indie shops, there are times when you want to spend the day shopping in chain stores. The Kings Plaza Mall has undergone some extensive renovations in the past few years and it's a great place to spend an afternoon, and the large parking lot/garage is an added plus.

The historic mall, which includes many mall staples like H & M, Old Navy, and Hot Topic, also houses a large Best Buy.
A trip to the mall isn't complete without a visit to Cookie House, a family owned kiosk that sells some of the tastiest cookies and pretzels in Brooklyn.
