The sculptures found within the quarry landscape have been carved into the rock face and quarry boulders, constructed from the shale or worked from the quarry landscape itself. New for 2017 they have installed the ‘Memory Stones’ at the new entrance into the quarry. See if you can find the 'falling man'. Enjoy the beautiful views from the coastal path. Only 10mins walk from us.

Sightseeing

We refer to the churchyard ruins as Pirates Graveyard….. take a stroll and you’ll see why! 10 minute’s walk from us through Wakeham, upon the east side of Portland. This beautiful, hidden cove has tranquil blue waters. Overlooking the cove are the ruins of the oldest castle upon Portland called Bow and Arrow Castle. Walk down the footpath to the left of Pennsylvania Castle and visit the ruins of the old church & Pirate’s graveyard.

No visit to Portland is complete without a visit to Portland Bill and Lighthouse. 5 minutes by car, jump on the open top bus or walk the coastal path approximately 3 miles. Portland Bill is the graveyard of many vessels that failed to reach Weymouth or Portland Roads. From the shore, you can see the Portland Race, a meeting of the tides that causes a continuous disturbance. Don't forget to stop for a Dorset cream tea at the Lobster Pot.

Great day out and stunning views from the coastal paths that lead from Durdle door to West Lulworth. Eroded by time and nature, Durdle Door is one of Dorset’s most photographed and iconic landmarks. It is located on the Lulworth Estate in south Dorset and is part of the Jurassic Coast. The coastline is of such international geological importance that it was designated England’s first natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001 and is now part of a family of natural wonders including America’s Grand Canyon and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
