The National Center for Atmospheric Research, or NCAR, sits at the foothills of the Flatirons with a commanding view of Boulder and the surrounding front range area.
Housed in an interesting looking building, there are hands-on displays (great for kids), extremely well done documentary films (great for kids and adults), static displays that teach about weather and climate, and how we as humans affect our environment. There are also some spectacular art pieces throughout that focus on science and our environment.
There is NO charge for this museum, which is small, but fascinating. They do have guided tours at times, but you can do your own own.
