Hungry?

If you like to eat like I do, these are the places I recommend. I'll try to let you know if you should make a reservation ahead of coming to town.
A couple of points here. I've grown up all across the country, but moved to Nashville in 2012 from Memphis where I lived for 10 years. Now Memphis is in "the best bbq in the world" conversation, no doubt. They host the competition. If you ask people who ARE NOT from Memphis where to eat BBQ in Memphis, they will likely give you a well uninformed answer of Rendezvous BBQ. Now, nothing against Rendezvous as it is a tourist attraction yet a cool experience, but it is not the best. Central BBQ is the best in Memphis. When I found out that that they were putting a Central BBQ at Capitol View in Nashville... which I CAN WALK TO FROM MY HOUSE IN 10 MINUTES.... needless to say, I was thrilled. After confirming 10 to 15 times already, it is just as good as the Central BBQ in Memphis. I highly recommend taking the short walk from our home and also checking out the rest of what the new Capitol View development has to offer. There is also a really cool park that was just built on the way over there. The walk may take a bit of the guilt out of the best baby back ribs in the world. I would recommend walking, however, only in the day time. It is not dangerous, but the area is undergoing phases of development. No reservation necessary or even possible I believe.

This place was a wonderful discovery for me. I stay in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood often when I have guests staying at my home in Hope Gardens. Riley, Sivan and all of the talented bartenders create some incredible cocktails. My favorite burger in Nashville as well. Butchertown Hall in Germantown was my favorite burger for a few years, but they got beat out once I indulged in this one. They also have a steak that can feed a small army that is incredibly tasty. It is on the pricey side, but worth it if you have the extra cash to spend. They have a fair priced allocated bourbon list as well, which is not common around here. The Chestnut Hill neighborhood is up and coming but is seeing a huge influx of new businesses and restaurants as the area prepares for our new soccer stadium. There are several planned projects in the works, and also several new restaurants that I have not tried yet. I hope to add reviews of those as I check them out. This is on the other side of broadway from my home, but it is a lively, yet classy night life for the locals if that is the kind of evening you are looking for. You will avoid tourist traffic in this area and I can assure you a nice visit if you want to head about a mile down 4th Avenue S from Broadway. I have never made a reservation or had to wait yet I've been here plenty of times.

Rolf and Daughters serves my favorite dish in Nashville. They hand make their pastas daily and have the most talented staff in the front, back and behind the bar. The decor is quite swanky with exposed duct work and very unique woodwork throughout. It is a smaller restaurant with limited tables available for reservations. There is "community seating" inside and outside, but I highly recommend a reservation several weeks in advance. The Garganelli Verde pasta dish is absolutely incredible. I'm trying to think of a way to describe it, but I think I'll just say that once you taste it you will just know exactly why I feel the way I do about this dish.

Sightseeing

This is a WONDERFUL place to check out and spend the afternoon in between brunch and dinner in Nashville. It is an old auto factory which includes one of the best music venues in town for A-list talent. Antique Archaeology has an outlet there. There are a few dozen shops, a mini-winery, distillery tour, brewery, tattoos, hair etc. You can make the 1 mile or so walk or take a scooter or ride share from our house. It is a great place for a group to go and y'all can spread out and check out the little shops that appeal to all in your party. I recommend Marathon to anyone who is visiting and asks what to do in the day time. You cannot go wrong here.

The Music City Circuit

This is a FREE bus service that will get you around Nashville quite easily. There is a stop just a few hundred feet from our front door. It will take you downtown, to the gulch, Capitol View and the Bicentennial mall. If you have a few extra minutes, save your Uber money and take this bus.

Scooters!!!

In the spirit of full disclosure, I have not ridden one of these things. That is just not something that I feel like I would be really good at. HOWEVER.... I see them everywhere and there are usually some right around the house. Since the house is within a mile or 2 of just about everything, scooters are certainly a viable option for getting around.
สัมภาระที่ควรเตรียม

A backpack

Just bring one so you are not stuck with awkward bags for your 3 for 1 cowboy boots while scooting down lower broadway.

People are very nice here...

In Nashville, or anywhere in the south really, don't be surprised if you are greeted by every single person you've never met. People say hello, how are you doing while passing by complete strangers. I'm certainly not trying to sound pretentious or anything, I just have lived in a lot of places and people are just extraordinarily warm and welcoming around here. Just don't let it scare you off ;)

Live Music

I have a lot of strong feelings about the state of live music in Nashville, but I will try to be PC. Lower Broadway is "Honky Tonk" Central and you can walk into almost every one of these places with no ticket, no cover and see some incredibly talented musicians perform cover songs and beg for tips just to put food on the table for their families since the Honky Tonk kingpins pay them pennies. I recommend that you skip that and attend a ticketed show with local bands playing their own music. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR AND MUCH MORE. Basement, 3rd and Lindsley, Cannery Row etc... PLEASE :)
