Food scene

This is the most popular restaurant in Santa Cruz at the moment. The food is really unbeatable, and it has an excellent atmosphere. Make reservations or be prepared to wait a while for a table. If it's just two of you, you can often find a couple seats at the bar.

This bar/restaurant is only located about 1.5miles away. A great spot anytime of day. They have a beautiful garden setting in the back. Perfect for breakfast and they have late night live music. Ofteb times they have bands traveling from LA to SF and making a stop in Santa Cruz.

This is the taqueria to go to. Don't bother with any others.

On Saturdays there is a farmers market from 7am-12pm. They end right at 12pm, so make sure you are there early. They have all the freshest local produce. There is also the best oysters you will find here (trust me). They shuck them for you of course, and the same vendor also has amazing fish tacos, ceviche, and shrimp cocktails. There is also a vendor who makes loaded baked potatoes that are amazing. You should check this place out, it's worth it.

Don't be fooled by all the "tourist traps" on the wharf. Most places have just mediocre food that's overpriced. One of the very few places to go on the wharf would be Olitas. Amazing food, margaritas and you can't beat the view. Perfect for sunsets. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they have a special where you get a taco and margarita/beer for like $8. They always have specials with local caught seafood (surprisingly one of the only restaurants on the wharf that does this!)

Sightseeing

This is a great music venue, only about 1mile away from the house. There are some really good bands that come through here, maybe ones you haven't heard of but they are traveling bands and you won't be disspaointed. The sound quality is really something else, and they have a full bar and outside patio.

I would recomend a drive up the coast to Davenport. The views are spectacular on the way, and there are some great little stopping points on the way. You'll also find some private beaches. If it's Saturday or Sunday, be sure to stop at this place. Each day they bring in the freshest shellfish for you to take out on the picnic tables and shuck yourself. Also, they don't serve beer/wine, but they let you bring your own! Bring a bottle of champagne, wine, beer and shuck your lives away.
