Val d'Europe is the name of sector IV, also called "East sector", of the new city of Marne-la-Vallée, 35 kilometers east of Paris. It is one of the main urban and business centers of the East of Île-de-France and one of the main tourist centers in Europe. Bordered by the Marne to the north, Val d'Europe is served by the A4 motorway to the south as well as by line A of the RER Ile-de-France and the high-speed Interconnection East TGV. The development of the Val d'Europe is the subject of a project of general interest and a public-private partnership unique in France, involving the State, local authorities and the Euro Disney company that operates the Disneyland Paris complex . This partnership is part of an agreement signed in 1987 between the French government and the Walt Disney Company.
