The place is part of an approximately 6-mile (10-km) stretch of interconnected caves and cellars beneath Buda Castle Hill. This museum is dedicated to a former secret emergency hospital and nuclear bunker. The history of the emergency hospital goes back to World War II.

All water of the lake replaced completely every day. The depth varies from 100-150 cm close to the shore to 38 m in the centre. The water temperature is around 35 °C in summertime and never goes below 22 °C in the winter.
