Wegmans is a Rochester institution. It started here in 1916 and is still privately held by the Wegmans family and has spread all over the eastern seaboard. It’s a grocery store experience like no other. The East Ave location is the closest one to us but also the most busiest. If you want the true Wegmans experience go to the Pittsford Store. 3195 Monroe Ave.

South Wedge Favorites.
The South Wedge is an eclectic group of people. Young families, first time home owners, renters, college students, medical personal (The South Wedge is situated in between two major hospitals) and long time residents. (Our neighbor moved here when she was 40, bought her house for $9,000 and has lived there 50+ years.)We love our neighborhood fiercely and support it proudly. Here are some of our favorite spots in “The Wedge”.
Lux is a local bar in the South Wedge. They don’t have food but they do have a great back patio. This is from their website. “In case you haven't heard, Lux is a kick ass bar in Rochester's South Wedge Neighborhood. Come eat some Chex mix, sit by the outdoor fire, look at some cool art, all while enjoying a delicious cocktail. We don't have a TV. We have a huge backyard (with a fire pit for those chilly Rochester nights), a kickin' Juke Box, lots of silly board games and a swanky pool table. At Lux, EVERYONE IS WELCOME! We don't care about the color of your skin or your hair. We don't care if you are gay, straight, (or both). We don't care if you love Allah, Buddha, Jesus, Or none of the above. We don't care what you wear (or decide not to wear). We don't care if you are fat or skinny, bald or sasquatch, young (well...at least 21) or a walking corpse. We just want you to be kind, open minded, non-thieving, good people. All you haters can stay at home. Everyone else....LET YOUR FREAK FLAG FLY” HOURS: Mon-Thur: 5pm - 2am | Fri: 4:30pm - 2am | Sat: 4pm - 2am | Sun: 4pm - 2am HAPPY HOURS: Mon-Thur: 5pm - 9pm | Fri: 4:30pm - 9pm | Sat & Sun: 4pm - 9pm

Diners are an east coast staple and The Highland Park Diner a staple for Rochester. Their website states. “Highland Park Diner is a famous diner on the corner of Clinton and Goodman. The American Diner Cookbook and other books feature the Highland Park Diner. It is a 1940’s stainless steal long narrow train car like diner. It was manufactured by the Orleans Diner company of Albion, NY in the late 1940's. It would have been pre-built in their factory and moved to the site via rail car and truck, which is why diners of this type are always long and narrow. This diner may be the only surviving diner from this manufacturer (they only made 2 or 3 units total).

Solera is Rochester’s first wine bar, focused on a consistently rotating selection of exciting wines by the glass and an extensive reserve bottles list. We lean towards smaller production, family-owned wineries from off the beaten regions and producers. Wines that have a personality, a story, and a sense of place. Wine, beer, and snacks served in a cozy, and stylishly old-world atmosphere. If you want a handmade cocktail sneak upstairs to their speakeasy Cheshire.
