“the Japanese Argentine Cultural Foundation secured a title to 2 hectares (4.9 acres) on the northeast corner of the city's extensive Parque Tres de Febrero for the purpose of creating a replacement. Completed in 1967. Its entrance on Figueroa Alcorta Avenue led to the gardens, a cultural center, restaurant, a greenhouse known for its collection of bonsai trees and a gift shop featuring an extensive selection of Asian garden seeds, as well as craftwork made by artisans on the grounds. The central lake is crossed by the Divine Bridge, traditionally representing entry into Heaven and by the Truncated Bridge, leading to an island where Japanese medicinal herbs are grown.”

“Plaza Dorrego is the historic square in the heart of the San Telmo neighbourhood, surrounded by bars and cafes. Every Sunday, the square is the focal point for a bustling arts and antiques fair that has something of a carnival atmosphere. Almost 300 antiques sellers set up shop in the square and along Calle Defensa, offering a mix of old furnishings and ornaments - some that belonged to the historic mansions in the area - plus old advertising signs, vinyl records, soda siphons, musical instruments, clocks and more. The fair has become such a success that stalls now extend around the surrounding streets, in Calle Defensa, Humberto Primo and part of Pasaje Giuffra. Most of the stalls in Plaza Dorrego itself sell antiques, while those in Calle Defensa sell more contemporary crafts and oddities and in Pasaje Giuffra you can also find clothing. Several restaurants in the area have tables on the street, while historic bars sometimes offer shows, artists open their ateliers and the streets have a lively atmosphere, with tango, organ players, mime artists, clowns, and more”

“The Museum-Studio is in the middle of the large building and exhibits works by the man who built it: Uruguayan genius Carlos Páez Vilaró, a multifaceted artist and muralist par excellence. The rooms are replete with paintings, pottery, and sculptures from different stages in the artist’s life. The Museum also has a video room, showing documentaries about his life and work. A tour of the building takes you through five halls and three terraces, and you sense how the architecture is shaped by its corridors and pathways, arcades, and objects embedded in the walls.”
