“Caversham Wildlife Park & Zoo is situated in Whiteman Park and houses one of the largest collections of native fauna in Western Australia. Whilst at the park you can join a variety of activities including our farm show where you can see sheep shearing demonstrations, working sheep dogs, stockman on horseback, billy swinging, whip cracking, bottle feeding the lambs and milking the cow. Or why not have a photo taken with the koalas, wombats and kangaroos, or go on a camel ride or visit Molly's Farm, an interactive farmyard where you can wander around with various farm animals, feed them and take as many photos as you like! There are plenty of picnic areas, barbecues and a restaurant available within Whiteman Park, just a four minute walk away. Caversham Wildlife Park & Zoo is located just 15 kilometres from the centre of Perth, situated at the entrance of the Swan Valley, just 20 minutes drive north-east of Perth. Caversham Wildlife Park is located inside Whiteman Park in the Swan Valley. Use either the Lord Street or Beechboro Road entrance. Public transport is available by catching the bus from Morley to Ellenbrook. Just ask the drive to let you off at Whiteman Park.”

“Lake Monger Reserve is a major Perth tourist and local community destination offering a mix of passive recreation areas, shared use paths, nature trails, shaded playgrounds, picnic and barbecue facilities and some sporting facilities for recreation use. The middle of the park is taken up with Lake Monger, a habitat for an abundance of local flora and fauna making it a popular location to observe a wide selection of WA's beautiful birdlife. Boardwalks and lookouts are provided around the lake from where you can take in the lake's natural beauty, with a lookout on the north side of the lake enjoying views to the Perth city skyline.”

“The scenic features of Serpentine National Park together with its close proximity to Perth have attracted visitors for almost 100 years. It is also a sanctuary for an array of plants and animals (particularly kangaroos) and has a shaded grassed area popular for picnics. Set in a naturally beautiful cleft at the foot of the scarp, the park stretched up the steep slopes if the Serpentine River valley, past a sheer face of granite polished smooth by the rushing waters. Past weathering has resulted in distinct landscapes of lateritic uplands, minor and major valleys and abrupt scarps. A mobile food & drink outlet is available in the park carpark on most weekends and during public & school holidays. Cash sales only. The Serpentine Falls area often fills to capacity and is then closed to new visitors - plan to arrive before 10am. Aboriginal Culture Long before European settlement, Noongar Aborigines of the Whadjuk and, probably, Bindjareb tribes hunted and camped in the woodlands between modern-day Perth and Pinjarra. The Serpentine River, the surrounding hills and the wetlands of the coastal plain provided the Nyoongars with fresh water, fish and other food resources such as tortoises, lizards and birds. The best time to see the wildflowers is from July to November. The finest displays are in September, when the hillsides and wooded areas become ablaze with colour. The park abounds with bird life, some 70 of the 100 bird species known to live on the Darling Scarp have been recorded in the park. While picnicking here, it is also quite common to be joined by western grey kangaroos. The echidna, mardo, quenda, brushtail possum, western brush-wallaby and possibly the quokka are more secretive and less visible. ”
