“Ottawa's Tulip Festival runs here from May 11-21st. The tulips are a yearly gift from the royal Dutch family after a birthing favour from forever ago. They also have other fun things set up, like food trucks, live art and music. ”

“For a quiet oasis in the heart of the city. It is by far my favorite place in the neighborhood. There's also a beach and the possibility to kayak and so much more.”

“Just a 15 minute drive away from enjoying these nature trails and more. "Situated on 80 hectares along the shores of the Rideau River, Baxter is a beautiful example of river floodplain. Explore, year-round, the mixed hardwood forests, meadows and wetlands over the 5 km of trails and visit the unique Filmore Park Nut Grove with its many species of nut and bean trees and shrubs. Join in the excellent environmental education programs, summer day camps and seasonal community group camping. Baxter boasts a large number of picnicking areas and large covered shelter adjacent to one of the cleanest and most attractive beaches on the Rideau. Visit the Patrick McManus Interpretive Centre which hosts the many programs and is available to groups for workshops, weekend rentals and social events." “To the north is a rich maple forest and over 2.5 km of hiking and cycling trails. A true greenbelt in the middle of town, the park is in close proximity to the Beechwood Cemetery and serves as a refuge to many species of birds and small woodland animals. There are also picnic tables, playground equipment for children, games for the elderly, flower beds and park benches. ”

“Easy 2.1km hike around the green... Pink Lake. It's a great way to see Gatineau Park if you're looking for something short and sweet. Trail is meticulously maintained, with wooden boardwalks and stairs in some places. This trail can get pretty busy during "peak times" on weekends; I'd aim to go early in the morning or late afternoon.”

“Just a thirty minute drive. "The Canadian Tulip Festival was established to celebrate the historic Royal gift of tulips from the Dutch to Canadians immediately following the Second World War as a symbol of international friendship. The Festival preserves the memorable role of the Canadian troops in the liberation of the Netherlands and Europe, as well as commemorates the birth of Dutch Princess Margriet in Ottawa during World War II—the only royal personage ever born in Canada." “No elevation but an excellent trail for a casual hike or mountain bike ride. The winding trails could easily take all day if you walk all of them. A few nice outlooks or places to stop and take in the view. Bring bug spray in the summer. ”

“Cool off after a hot day or just relax on the each for that summer tan. While doing that take in some nature and walk along the Lac Leamy trails along the river.”
