“ WELCOME TO OLD TOWN SAN DIEGO OLD TOWN is the historic heart of San Diego. Created in 1769, Old Town San Diego was California’s first settlement with only a mission and a fort. Wander through lush gardens or browse at one of the many specialty shops for treasures from around the world. Indulge in authentic Mexican food at one of the many restaurants or dance to the strolling mariachis. Pause to reflect at the fountains at Fiesta de Reyes and in the Bazaar del Mundo and plan a day or two to visit the dozens of historic sites. Take a tour of a haunted building and spend a day at one of the many museums. Year round, Old Town is the place for food, folklore, and fun. Visit Old Town, celebrate San Diego’s heritage, and bask in early California ambiance. Old Town San Diego State Historic Park is in the center of Old Town. Here you can experience life from the early Mexican-American period of 1821-1872 through rich living history programs. Watch forms come to life at the blacksmith and woodworker shops, and read a newspaper from the 19th century. Old Town San Diego, where Interstate 5 and Interstate 8 meet, is nestled in the heart of San Diego. Old Town is just across the street from the San Diego Trolley Old Town Transit Center, across the freeway from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) and a short drive from most San Diego destinations. ”

“WELCOME TO OLD TOWN MEXICAN CAFE Old Town Mexican café has been a staple in San Diego for more than 40 years. Our handmade tortillas have been called “the best in the world” by many, many people. Our most popular dishes are Molcajete, Carnitas, ½ rotisserie chicken, Pozole, ½ rack of ribs, Guacomole, Carne Asada Dinner. Banquets and parties are very popular here at the Old Town Mexican Café. We host parties for every occasion. Our offsite catering is a hit at every gathering. Some options even include food cooked on site over a wood fire. Happy hour runs in our bar area every Monday – Friday from 3:00-6:00 and again from 10:00 to close with drink specials and half price appetizers. HAND MADE FROM AUTHENTIC INGREDIENTS All our food is handmade and authentic from the finest ingredients available. Here's what one of our customers recently said - "The Carnitas is probably something they are known most for. They are great however if you order them crispy, be prepared, they are very very crispy. I like them the way they come. The fish tacos are also very good. They taste great. They come with the fish, cabbage and white sauce, nice and simple. The tamales are good as are the chile relleno is great, it is traditional and not an egg bake like some places serve."”
