This cabin is the 1st one you come to, & you can park right beside it (cabin 3 is very close by it). Again, LONG WEEKENDS ARE A MIN. 2 NIGHT STAY!
YOU MUST READ THE WHOLE AD CAREFULLY & AGREE TO ALL RULES BEFORE BOOKING!
These are sleeping cabins ***DESIGNED TO ACCOMMODATE FISHERMEN & HUNTERS!!! VERY BASIC back to nature! (Think wooden tent with a wood stove, futon, a small table, 2 or 3 chairs & beds only!) No pots, pans, dish ware, utensils or bedding. Although it will sleep 7, it is very crowded with that many! The furniture is not meant to be featured in Better Homes & Gardens! There is damage & stains on tables etc, but the beds & futons are clean. Because these are not pristine, we don't have a problem with people bringing their (well-mannered) pets (that don't go on the furniture). They are swept & wiped down after each guest leaves, but these are NOT like sterile city motel rooms! You might even see dust bunnies! They are NOT SUITABLE FOR FINICKY PEOPLE, WHINERS, or most Yuppies! If you drip wax on the lino or furniture etc., there will be a minimum $10. charge for us to try to remove it! There is ONE (not his n hers!) traditional outhouse (that smells like one!) Mice & other rodents & insects live outside, & they may occasionally poop on the deck & there may be cobwebs out there as well. It is swept off regularly, but they return at night! When people leave the door open, mice can get in & we can't prevent that (although we have very little problem with them)! Please DO NOT BOOK if these things are upsetting to you!!! If you are looking for something more like a hotel room, we have a couple large ensuite bedrooms in our home also listed on Airbnb, which may be more suitable! The cabins have a wood stove for heat, (you supply wood) and an outhouse toilet nearby. ***If you are one of those people who think it's ok to do your business in the bush & leave your toilet paper etc - DON'T COME HERE! It's so disgusting having to pick that up & we will levy a $25. charge if we have to do that! (We have night vision game cameras installed down there). Portable toilets are sometimes available for rent to put in the cabin if you prefer, (deposit required) but must be cleaned out before returning it. We can also supply an outdoor solar shower in summer that you can fill from the river or waterfall, (deposit required) just pop up to our house & get it.
There is NO RUNNING WATER! (no, not even in the outhouse!) NO INTERNET! NO TV! NO ELECTRICITY!! Fido/Rodgers network works here (mostly outside). You supply your own sleeping bags, cooking supplies, toilet paper, firewood & lantern(s), firewood is available here (just up the hill at our house). (We may have some camping supplies available for rent also if needed). These are suitable for people accustomed to living in the wild that want to de-stress & get back to nature. We have portable 4' fencing panels to make an enclosure for those that would like to bring their horses (extra charge would apply). QUIET, well mannered pets that DON'T GO ON THE FURNITURE are possible (but must be leashed if around the farm animals) The large pond is not for swimming (the bottom is quite muddy), but people sometimes swim in the (COLD!) river (about a 5 minute walk) off our beach in the late summer & fall! The Trans Canada Trail runs along two sides of our property and one way goes up to Windy Knob, a 5 1/2 hour hike which offers great views of the surrounding mountains as well as the city, or you can continue there & add another couple of peaks for a full day hike. Please email me if you wish the info on the hikes.
As mentioned above, these cabins are designed for fishermen & hunters, they are not for people worried about outhouse smells, occasional mice etc. We expect you to leave your honest review, however, if you have ignored what we have put on our ad, don't complain about it after! I understand if you feel they don't have enough value or are otherwise not suitable for you, however I would expect that you not want to return if you feel that way! Regarding price, Saturdays are the most expensive due to heavy demand, if you wish to save money, try a different day, Fridays are a bit less & during the week (non-holidays), is cheap!
We are situated in the Tamihi Recreational area on the Chilliwack River with 2 excellent fishing spots, (1 is off our beach), unlimited mountain trails & logging roads for horses, 4 x 4s, mountain bikers/hikers, & fantastic area for white water kayaking! 3 sides are heavily forested, with the Chilliwack River on the 4th side & we are at the base of Church Mountain (1714 m) There a little waterfall nearby, & is very peaceful & serene.
Now for the bad! As we are deep in the forest, you have to go 2.8 kms down a forest service road (quite flat & easily accessible by car) which sometimes (especially during the winter & spring) can have potholes!
To get to the beach, go over the little footbridge & turn right & go until you see the field, go to the far end of the covered picnic area & the stairs to the beach are there.
We live on the property (a 2 minute drive up the mountain) & are available most of the time, especially by phone, email or text msg! If you can't reach us, just come up the road to the main house. We are more than happy to answer questions & help you with directions & advice on what to see!
