Built in the eitheenth century , Casale Maestraccio is a typical Tuscan farm house which was owned by the nesters of the area and ruled by farmers who first mainly produced wood, then also olive oil and wine.
The complex, which consists of 3 buinldings in 5 acres of land, was bought by us in 1997 when we suddendly started its renovation . We made major works as we had to reorganize and rearrange the land , building many dry stone walls using only the local stone; building a brand new large terrace in front of the main house using reinforced concrete because of the variety of heights of the land, and then covering it up with lush vegetation; bringing the gas to the complex from the village centre.
We loved everything about Casale Maestraccio: its facing south position, which means that sun reaches us from dawn to sunset; its wonderful view on the valley; being sheltered in the back from the strong and cold Tramontana wind which never reaches us; the potentiality of the country houses; the 2 acres wood of chestnut trees and cork oaks that goes far under the access road; the still productive olive groves and vineyards.
We still produce first quality olive oil and wine which are available for tasting and selling.
The village centre is less than 1 km away and you can find there any facility. There are the post office, the pharmacy, a supermarket and the bus stop to Pisa and ti Pontedera.
Closer to the complex, just at the end of the road, there is a fish pond for fishing where you can also find a restaurant pizzeria.
If you like biking, you can take the bicycle path who leads you till the beautiful burg and castle of Vicopisano. On the way, at Riaccio, you’ll find a nice and new complex of riding stables. Buti, the main village, has a very strong horses tradition and in fact since 1848, every first Sunday after January 17th, which is tha Sant’Antonio day, Saint who protects animals, a Palio is held, alet’s say a “small” Palio of Siena. Actually, one of the most famous horse-jockey, Aceto, is from Buti!
Buti is a lovely medieval village, sorrounded by chestnuts trees, at the foot of the montain Serra, 1000 mt above the sea level, where people go for chestnuts and for some fresh air in summer. There’s also a castle which is still inhabitated and there is a bunch of nice good restaurants.
3 km futher you’ll find the centre Torretta White with tennis courts, golf practise court, olympic size swimming pool, discoteque Il Boccaccio, a mall with shops and restaurants.
Buti is close to Pisa, with its Leaning Tower, and Lucca, with its churchers and citywalls. At close distance also you can reach the beautiful San Miniato, a charming village perched on top of a hill along the Arno river where there’s a castle and a fortress but which is mainly famous for its white truffle. Also at short distance you find San Giuliano Terme, with its important spa, located in the lowland between the Arno and the Serchio rivers, in a framework rich of natural historical and artistic beauty.
Many other spots, a wide collection of historical and natural itineraries, such as historical villas, a well preserved aqueduct of the Medici Family, the beautiful San Rossore-Massaciuccoli Natural Park (24000 hectares the go till the shore), several romanic and medieval churches, hermitages and monasteries, particular avenues surrounded by trees, can be visited in the sorrounding as well as of course the other main Tuscan cities.
If you like to enjoy the beach instead, you’ve got many opportunities, from the near beaches of Marina di Pisa and Tirrenia or Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio, famous for its colourful Carnival to the area in the typical Tuscan scenery with Castagneto Carducci , Massa Marittima, Campiglia Marittima, Gulf of Baratti and Venturina, with its wonderful “calidario”, natural lake at 36°C, dear to Etruscans and Romans. From here the Baratti and Populonia Archeological Park, a real open-air museum, glittering with ferrous slag which show the impressiveness of the industrial Etruscan village.

Valeria... and Teo… mum and 9 years old boy!
Mum is an Artist and an Holiday House Host and keeper, when I'm not in school I help her drawing and painting, giving her ideas for her creative job and, when we have guests, I also I help her welcoming them!
We are both very communicative and like to meet different people from other countries and cultures, it's fun, joy and it's about communication, learning, sharing... and it's also like traveling and we do both love traveling!
I'm half Spanish and I'm happy when Spanish speaking guests come to our Villa in Pisa, where we do also live... and I'm working on my English now... but Mum speaks English and also knows Spanish very well, some French and Catalan, she travelled a lot, so we can communicate to almost everybody and we do like it a lot!!
Mum and I do our best to make our guests feeling at home and having the best stay ever!
