The front of the house is all windows, with views of Mendocino Bay and Big River from every room except the bathrooms. Downstairs: Entrance leads to solarium and second bedroom (Queen bed) and bathroom - and a private deck. Upstairs: Open great room with living room, dining room and kitchen; master bedroom (king bed) and second bathroom; upper deck. The house is not large (about 1400 sq. ft) and is fabulous for two people and very comfortable for four. It's fully furnished, with an over stocked kitchen, original art work, gas fireplace in living room, three TVs and excellent internet, beautiful towels and linens, a gas barbecue on the lower deck, and many amenities to help make your stay a memorable one.
You'll have access to the entire house. While the garage is not available for guests to park their cars, you are welcome to use the washer and dryer in the garage. FOUR people is the absolute maximum number of guests.
I am not on site, but am close by. Our house manager will be available if you should need anything and I'm always available via phone.
Deck chairs, lounge chairs and a hammock will make lounging on the deck a pleasure. The kitchen has everything you'll need: coffee grinder, drip coffee maker, condiments for coffee and cooking (olive oil, spices...all the kitchen basics), wine glasses and wine opener, and a rice maker. Gas barbecue is on lower deck.
The house is in a very quiet location and guests need to respect this. This is NOT a party house - it's a great house for FOUR PEOPLE who want to have a retreat and might enjoy art galleries, walking on the beach, enjoying a glass of wine on the deck as the sun sets over the ocean. Quiet hours: 24/7.
Maximum of TWO CARS in drive way at one time.
THREE NIGHT MINIMUM APPLIES TO ALL 3 DAY FEDERAL HOLIDAY WEEKENDS.
No children under twelve.
NO GROUPS - EVER.
My husband and I are retired teachers who are enjoying our retirement to the fullest. We lead educational travel programs for Road Scholar (used to be ElderHostel), are active in our community, enjoy hiking, reading and the arts - this is also a good list of the things I wouldn't want to be without.
We're avid travelers who are inclined to visit two different type of destinations: beautiful landscapes for hiking, clean air and solitude - or we head right for the middle of an urban area with great museums, art galleries and good public transportation. We're casual travelers -early risers who like coffee and a newspaper to start the day. I'm the planner, my husband is the photographer and the home brewer.
We're a little nervous about listing our home on airbnb; we've worked hard to make this home cozy and attractive and are hoping that guests treat it respectfully.
