this is my longtime home, a spacious 3 bedroom apartment. it's nothing fancy but it feels like a home and my roommate and i are both friendly, down-to-earth midwesterners.
the bedroom is spacious and faces east for bright morning sun. there are two layers of curtains: a set that allow some light in or darker ones that block most of the sunlight. the bed is a supremely comfortable queen sized mattress with mattress pad on a platform bed frame. there is some closet space available for hanging items or storing luggage.
there are two side tables and a chair in the corner for personal affects as well as a table that can serve as a desk. this is a real bedroom with a door. it would only be shared with someone you are traveling with.
you will share the bathroom with my male roommate. (he's clean and the door locks.)
you will have access to your bedroom, the shared hallway bathroom with bathtub and shower, the living room and dining/kitchen spaces. the balcony is also accessible as are the coin laundry rooms in our building and the building adjacent.
remember that there are two other people who live here and be courteous in cleaning up after yourself. there is cable including HBO and showtime in the living room. wireless internet also available.
my roommate and i are around sporadically. he is a photographer, i am a makeup artist and we also work together at a restaurant nearby. when i'm around, i'm pretty low key. he's the same, but is around more than i am. i have been in los angeles for many years and can make recommendations on places to eat or explore. he's been here only several months but rides his bike most places and has a newcomer's take on the city. when we're around, we're both friendly and happy to chat or leave you to your own devices as you prefer.
there's a friendly female cat named frances who lives here. she loves humans, keeps most of her shedding to the floor and is pretty low maintenance most of the time. i will always deal with any issues that arise with regard to her. she does not go into the bedroom in the listing.
the neighbors are nearby and the alley can be noisy with trash pick up in the mornings. the carpet isn't very lovely to look at, but i keep it clean. this is what they call "lived-in" but it's homey and cozy.
• Check-in time is 3PM.
please just be considerate of both myself and my roommate, as well as the neighbors. listening to music in your room is okay, watching tv or netflix, etc. just as long as the volume is reasonable and not disruptive.
no smoking inside. if you're going to smoke on the balcony please keep the door to the living room closed.
if you're going to prepare meals in the kitchen you're expected to clean up after yourself immediately. (there's a dishwasher but pots and pans, chef's knives as well as wine glasses should be hand-washed.)
please no guests not on your reservation without prior approval.
i run a restaurant and am a makeup artist in los angeles so i generally stay very busy. while i love my work, joshua tree provides me a place of peace to retreat to as often as possible.
music, books, art and food are my passions. i love nina simone and tom waits and i try to surround myself by art and artists of all kinds.
i'm currently learning spanish and would love to be able to read "one hundred years of solitude" by marquez in the original language.
