The Old Smythy is our charming grade 11 listed cottage set in the beautiful South Hams. The cottage feels cosy from the moment you walk in, especially when the woodburner is lit in the inglenook fireplace on any chilly night.
It is located on left hand side up from Dartington if you get to the cott inn on the right then turn around there and go back down the narrow road a bit of a hill. The cottage is tucked into the hill.
There is a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and lounge with inglenook fireplace. Two double bedrooms and single bedroom plus bathroom. It has a bath and shower attachment but no walk in shower. There is access to the garden from the landing upstairs.
The whole cottage and garden is for the guests to enjoy. It is a grade 11 listed cottage it will respond to tender loving care and will repay you with enjoyment and cosyness.
Ther is wifi though sometimes it can be S little slow. Mobile phone reception not great, you need to go to top of garden!
Should there be any problems we can be contacted and although we don't live there we have someone one on hand to be able to sort out any issues that may arise.
Car parking is tight outside the Old Smythy but there is a car park outside the cider press and The Cott Inn.
Mobile phone reception variable so don't expect too much
We request that you do not smoke inside the house.
It would be appreciated if shoes were removed at the door to protect the carpets and slippers worn.
It is grade 11 listed therefore it can be a little more sensitive than a modern property so please be sensitive to its age.
I live with my husband In a very rural area of Somerset known as the wetlands. I spend a lot of time out of doors and especially love looking after 4 bee hives. Our garden is productive which means our freezer is full and we are almost self sufficient. We have two daughters and a little grandson all of whom we visit as much as we can. The Old Smithy at Dartington has been a long term project both as a rental and as a brilliant base from which to explore South Devon, Exeter to Plymouth, Dartmouth to Dartmoor or just as a fun place to enjoy quirky Cott Lane and Totnes. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, everyone seems to.
