Welcome to Aarhus!
And welcome my little apartment situated in the very center of the city - literally behind the mall "Bruuns Galleri and the Train Station, just without the noise.
If you are looking for a clean apartment, close to everything with killer fast WiFi, huge TV package with loads of english channels and eternal sunshine through the windows of the french glass doors, then this is the place you are looking for!
I live on, one of the most hip streets in Aarhus called Jægergårdsgade or in if translated straight to English, I would live on "Hunter-Farm-Street"!
The street is full of small specialty stores like a coffee shop where you can grind your own coffee beans, a small shoe shop that sells upcoming brands, an old glazier, cafés, small restaurants with wicked menu's, funky interior design and outdoor serving in the summertime, a chocolate factory, loads of urban living and much much more.
I can recommend a drink at Apoteket, a small restaurant/cocktail bar witch used to be an old Pharmacy. You can expect a very cozy environment and drinks served in old glasses... and when you had enough, there is less than 1 min. walk home!
You will find everything you need on my street or with in 5 min walk, from genuine sushi restaurants, a regular grocery store, to the 4. Generation old bakery, the butcher who looks a bit scary, the knitting shop that is now having it's second renaissance with the very same owner, craft shops, bridal shops, interior designer shops - you name it, my hood got it!
When entering my home, you'll first have to walk up to the 2th floor through the corny bright red staircase - this is however not entirely my property but belongs to the community and we are working hard on fixing the entrance with new colors!
When you open the door to my apartment, you enter into my very tiny "hallway" - it's so tiny that there is nothing more to write about it than this!
The bathroom has a separate shower, an environmental water-saving toilet with two different flush buttons, a wonderful make-up mirror and a white porcelain sink with a small closet under where you'll find towels and extra toilet paper.
The living room is on your right hand when entering the apartment. The old wooden flooring is the original from the beginning of the last century. The living room is the heart of the apartment, it's where the ideas are made and dreams take shape, this is the center of my life!
And because of that, I've decided to decorate it with the brands and furniture’s that tricks my mind, most of it is Danish design as I truly cherish my country and the people who have made living easier - and more beautiful over the past 200 years. Feel free to enjoy my home, but please do take care of my furniture’s like it was your own.
From the living room there is a splendid view towards the City Hall of Aarhus and the big round clock on the tower of the City Hall. As Jægergårdsgade is a hip street there is always people on the street, not in the noisy bar-fighting-kind-of-way but in the cozy the-street-is-alive-kind-of-way, so if you like people watching this is where you want to camp out with a nice cup of tea!
From the living room there is access to the bedroom that contains a large closet with hangers for your cloth, ironing board, a dresser for you to use and my happy yellow mirror. There is also a really comfy 140x200 cm semi-hard mattress.
I like things to be clean, and I think it is important that especially bed linen and towels are fresh, that's why I always wash and iron my bed sheets, before you arrive so you can be sure it is 100% clean and crispy to sleep in!
The same goes for my kitchen, which you enter from the bedroom. It is rather small but nice and clean and will provide you with everything you need to cook a nice meal.
Feel free to use what ever you find in the cupboards and to enjoy a cup of tea in one of my Royal Copenhagen porcelain teacups.
The Sunshine Apartment
In the entire apartment there is what we call "French doors" which is doors with glass in the middle and white porcelain handles. I choose to put these doors in - except in the bathroom door of course! - Because it makes the sun shine through the entire apartment from both sides during the day.
The reflects from the sun in the apartment is amazing! And I'm lucky enough to have an apartment where the sun rises on one side and sets on the other, which gives me eternal sunshine all day long - a true bliss!
There is 5 min walk to the beginning of the pedestrian street (Strøget) that starts at Ryesgade (named after a famous drunken Danish General) and continuous all the way down to Aarhus Cathedral build in year 1190.
From the area around the Cathedral, also known as Store Torv (The Big Square) the Latin Quarter starts. It is the oldest part of Aarhus with small quirky houses and nothing but specialty stores and cobblestones on the streets - let's just say that it's no place for high heals!
There is about 10 min. walk from my apartment to the worlds third largest Art Gallery AROS where some of the most recognized artists in the world exhibit. Check out their website.
Train Station and Bike Rental
The train station in Aarhus is just 3 min. walk away from the apartment and here you can get one of the free city bikes that are parked around town. The bike cost 20 dkr. in deposit.
You simply insert the 20 dkr into the slot on the bike and it releases the lock and off you go! When you want to return the bike, simply just find a parking spot for the city bike (there are several of them around town) insert the lock from the bike onto the parking spot and collect your 20 dkr!
Forrest, Queen and Ocean
The forest around Aarhus is about 10 min bike ride away - if you are really slow - or 30 minutes wonderful walk. From here you can see the ocean, the beach and the yacht harbor - and you'll get a glims of the Port of Aarhus just up along the cost line.
If you walk into the forrest - which is really really beautiful, you will not only find Aarhus Tivoli but also our Queen Margrethe II's summer resident "Marselisborg".
When the Queen is in residence, which she mostly is during July and December (but you can see the actually times and dates on the Royal Family's website) there will be guard shift with the Royal Lifeguard everyday at noon, outside the castle gate.
If the Queen is not in residence, you can free of charge take a walk through the amazing old garden surrounding the castle, and if you are tall, you can even peak through the windows...!
Arrival by Plain or Train
Airplane: If you arrive by Airplane to one of the major airports in Denmark - Kastrup (Copenhagen), Billund, and Aarhus, you'll find easy access to my apartment.
There are trains directly from Kastrup (Copenhagen) Airport to Aarhus Train Station, just across the street from my apartment. Literally just 5 min. walk.
If you land in Billund or Aarhus Airport you can get the Airport bus just outside the terminals. The Airport bus will then take you to the train station in Aarhus, which is around 10-15 min. walk depending on your load of luggage.
The busride takes around one hour if you land in Billund Airport and 20-30 minutes if you land in Aarhus Airport.
Train: The Train Station is located inside the Mall/Shopping Center called Bruuns Galleri. It is just across the street from my apartment.
There are many daily arrivals from all over Denmark to Aarhus Train Station. The trains from Germany also arrives at Aarhus Train Station.
European Capital of Culture in 2017
Did you know that Aarhus (Århus) has been appointed European Capital of Culture in 2017?
And that the city was featured as one of The Top 5 happiest places on the planet in Delta SKY magazine in 2011 and 2013?
I have only few rules and I expect you to keep and respect them...
- This is a non-smoking home, please respect that!
- Please take your shoes off, when entering the house.
- Do not bring any pets, not even a tame bird!
- Please do not bring my towels to the beach or a swimming pool
- When leaving, do the dishes and tidy up the place.
- If you loose the keys the lock smith is on your bill
- If you break something, or in other way damage things in the apartment, I now it is an accident, but I just hate finding out on my own so please tell me right away.

I’m a Entrepreneur and Broadcast Journalist with a bad case of wanderlust. I traveling between Denmark and Spain due to work and love. When not home in Denmark or Spain I rent out my HOME and so far, I've only had good experience doing that!
My experiences with Airbnb, have put my scribbling mind at work and the result is a book called "How to win at Airbnb" - that was put up for sale in May 2015.
Airbnb encourage me the Host, to tell you the Guest, what my life motto is. It's real simple; "The one who has the ability, has the obligation". So I wrote a book.
