We were not greeted by the host upon arrival, but byhis mother. My flight landed earlier than expected and they were accommodating so No big deal, but communication was a challenge as his mother does not speak English nor do I speak Spanish. We were instructed by the owner to lie…
First of all I don’t think I have to be in person to greet and meet but I do feel the responsibility to communicate and guide every guest throughout the stay (like I do). Second, the communication was great between us at all times even when my mother (property manager) gives the tour while I’m on the phone to answer any questions. Third, make sure that when you visit a country, like Puerto Rico, to verify their main language, which in this case is Spanish. Oh wait; we did have a laugh because you had to practice your Spanish for five minutes with the host (I guess you forgot that). * Let me share something about traveling; Part of traveling to another country is to learn and enjoy their culture not to be judgmental especially of the people that don’t speak your native language, do everyone a favor, don’t be ignorant and educate yourselves. * Fourth, I feel sorry that you guys waited 15min pass the agreed checkout time, which I told you to leave the keys inside and go which you reply and I quote "Keys are in the wood bowls counter...Thanks for a great stay!" Which I apologized for the wait and thought I took care of the situation fairly quick. Six, It is today that I properly summited my claim. Therefore after you saw the claim and called me you decided to write the review. Your reaction was totally expected. I can understand your frustration but you simply lied in describing your experience (lucky for me I got proof). Is not fair for the host that our guest writes a review after we properly summit a claim. Most likely this reaction will always precede a claim. Seventh, We as host understand that our guest pay for a cleaning fee but leaving the apartment full of sand even inside the refrigerator pushes the envelope. (I guess is part of hosting but a courtesy sweep is always appreciated) Eight, I’m really really sorry you may feel this way but we as a host have 48hrs to summit a claim. Unfortunately we don't tolerate smoking in our property and is really frustrating to me as a host to file a claim. Knowing that it must be done before the guest post a review and after a good guest. Nine, Nonetheless, We strongly suggest everyone to follow simple house rules. Finally, as I wrote in your review; you were good guest, good communicators with just minor things to work on.
