I am a retired federal employee . We own this timeshare located at W 57th
Street and 7th Ave. This the old Central Plaza Hotel where the upper floors
where converted to time shares. We have New Years Week and we split our New York visits with 3 days at New Years (Dec. 30, Dec. 31 and Jan 1). You check out on 2 January. The other four days we use during the summer. We usually take the bus from Washington DC area (Vamoose) at $30.00 per person, each way. We usually see a Broadway play on the night of 30th. Go TKS in Times Square as early as you can. I believe they open at noon. Tickets are half price. You can walk to Rockefeller Center with the Radio City theatre to see the Rockettes Christmas Show. Figure $150.00/seat. Buy a $20.00 subway pass for each person for subway or bus. If you drive, the Manhattan Club (on W 57th) will provide for a garage Parking for $25.00 to $35.00 per day.
A favorite place is Castle Clinton at the foot of the island, take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and return. If you want to go inside the statue, you must make reservations now. There might no be too much available at this date. You will be near Wall Street, Christ Church and the 9/11 Memorial. Central Park is a few blocks from the timeshare. Fifth Avenue has many museums. We have enjoyed the South Street Seaport on the East River. There are many museums in NYC, and an endless list of restaurants. For a very, very premium steak, we go to Gallagher's. It is expensive, but if you book for a dinner prior to 8:oo PM, you get regular pricing on New Years Eve. Book through Enjoy New York! The Empire State Building and the Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center) are nice but pricey. They used to be free.
