Built 1933 by Herbert woods, Water Rail is a 27ft vintage wooden cabin cruiser available for hire from Little Ships based in the wonderful Norfolk Broads. She sleeps 2 + 2. Book now to experience the Broads in a truly unique and vintage manner.

Perfect for that special occasion and for a unique Norfolk broads experience.

The hire charge is as shown on Airbnb but excludes the fuel charge (only the fuel used is charged for and this is calculated on return of the vessel).

Water Rail has a forward twin berth cabin in a "V" formation. Adjacent to this is the "Head" (the loo) and opposite a hanging space.
From here you enter into the wheelhouse, where you drive the boat and this has seating for 4+ people. The screen and roof all fold down for a truly lovely and outdoor experience whilst cruising. You step down in the galley/saloon area, where she has a gas twin hob oven unit with grill, a sink, fridge with ice compartment and all equipment to required to cook onboard.
The saloon comfortably seats 4 and this space converts into a large double bed.
She doesn't have heating nor a shower on-board but there are lots of marinas/boatyards dotted around the broads that have shower facilities which are available for all to use, some free and others for a small charge.
She has deck space all round, space to sit up front as well as at the rear of the boat.

We do require potential guests to ideally have some boating experience and competency, however we always give a thorough practical tutorial as part of the handover process and undertake all manoeuvres including mooring up to ensure you are entirely comfortable with control the boat. So please just get in touch if you are interested.

Great way to travel. It's fantastic to wake up each morning and start your journey straight away. A great way to be outdoors. Water rail is a functional and boat with character. It rained heavily but we didn't get wet. All the right gear on board.

It was our first visit to the Broads and we had a great time on the Water Rail. It doesn't take long to get the hang of controlling her! She's a lovely old boat that drew constant admiring glances from other river users and people on shore. We were four adults so the space is a bit cramped but it was perfectly fine for a weekend. The kitchen facilities are good but there is no shower. Showers are available at some pubs and marinas etc but we just resorted to a flannel wash! With the mud weight you can pretty much stop anywhere for the night as quayside mooring spots are highly sought after especially if you start looking too late. Adam and Katie are really friendly and helpful. Adam took us out in the boat for half an hour to show us the ropes, and then we were on our own! Great fun.

If you enjoy spending a few days travelling the rivers at a very, very leisurely pace then this is the boat for you. Water Rail handles beautifully and will let you cruise about enjoying a cuppa without any concerns. Adam and Katie are lovely hosts and gave us a full and comprehensive introduction into running her properly and were available for any questions. We hope to return and take Water Rail back out as soon as possible :)

Fabulous stay on Adam and Katie's vintage boat last week. 'Water Rail' is a beautiful thing and a far cry from the larger modern beasts on the Broads. Small and perfectly formed with good working kitchen. Space is a bit tight for four (us and two children aged 9 and 13) but not a problem. We loved the whole experience, pootling around, the landscape and sky. Little Ships gave us a handover session on the water, suggested routes, basics on board and advice via text if we had any queries. Not easy finding overnight public moorings (being August) so the mud weight was handy as you could 'wild moor' anywhere safe. We learned loads about the heritage of the Broads and recommend a trip to the Broads Museum at Stonham (though less excited about the town itself). Also enjoyed Howe Hill Nature Reserve and Toad Cottage. We will be back. Many thanks. Susie and Co.

We are all about quality and all things vintage. We are committed and wholly passionate about restoration of heritage and class of an era gone by. We try to present our cottages and boats in a traditional manner balanced with design and beauty. Katie and Adam, a wife and husba…
