The "Abbie Rhodes" house was built in 1891. It is a plaque home located in the desirable Alfred Drowne neighborhood in Barringotn, R.I. The home is an eclectic, cottage style with the charm of an older home. It is in a great location: 3 neighborhood beaches, direct access to the East Bay Bike path and close to Bristol, Newport, Providence.
Located in the desirable Alfred Drowne neighborhood in Barringotn, RI, our home is an eclectic cottage style. It is in a great location: 3 neighborhood beaches, direct access to the East Bay Bike path, close to Bristol, Newport and Providence.
If you are looking for a comfy, charming stay, then look no further. Our house has 2 "kids" bedrooms upstairs, which are more suited for kids rather than grown adults, along with a spacious bathroom and a clawfoot tub. Downstairs there is a master bedroom, brand new full bath with oversized tiled shower and floor heating, kitchen, TV room and dining/puzzle/computer room. The neighborhood is great for walking, hitting the 3 neighborhood beaches (1 is a block's walk from our home) and also has direct access to the East Bay Bike Path, which runs from downtown Providence to Bristol, RI. Brown, RISD, Johnson & Wales and Roger Williams are all within a 15-20 minute drive.
You will have access to the entire home and yard. The southern facing front porch is a favorite amoungst our guests for sipping morning coffees or perusing an afternoon read. In the back, we have a patio dining table with seating for 4, along with a Weber BBQ.
Arrival and departure logistics will be individually coordinated after reservation is made.
Alfred Drowne was ranked one of the Best Steets to to live in on the East Bay in Rhode Island Monthly. It is an historic neighborhood, with many century homes and great for walking, jogging or hopping onto the bike path: downtown Barrington, Warren and Bristol are all a pleasant bike ride from our home on the bike path, which affords amazing vistas of the salt marshes and Narragansett Bay, along which it runs.
A car is recommended.
4 Bikes can be provided if requested.
You will have access to the entire home. Guests love the very well stocked kitchen, the period detail of the home and the layout for kids upstairs and the ease of check-in / check-out.
I will do my best to be available to exchange the key. In a pinch, I will coordinate alternate plans with the guests.
We live in an upscale neighborhood with many Brown professors and professionals, so we expect mature and appropriate behavior of our guests. There is ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING INSIDE THE HOUSE OR ON THE PORCH. It goes without saying that underage drinking will not be tolerated and is not permitted. No house parties or loud outside gatherings past 10:00 p.m.

I am a professional business woman and mother of three. I lived in Europe for 8 years and studied in Vienna, Austria for 1. I love to travel and share my culture with others and learn about local customs. My top 5 hobbies: my kids, cooking, traveling, sailing, and snorkeling . I would describe my home as clean, cozy, eclectic, and fun. I try to leave places I stay at least as clean as when we arrived. I am tidy, organized, love interior design and appreciate the details that go into making a house a home.
