Our location is halfway between the Station and the City Centre, perfect for the travelling visitor. This quaint little room with a double bed, is rumoured to have been used by Charles Darwin in 1829. Whilst the double bed fits in snugly, please be aware this is an old building with traditional low ceilings and doorways so it could feel small if you are used to bigger spaces. We hope our guests will enjoy this style of authentic ancient architecture of Cambridge from the 1800's.
We are a friendly couple happy to share our home with you. We live in a beautifully refurbished Grade 2 listed building in the heart of Cambridge.
Room number 2 is situated on the second floor above a shop (Cambridge Farmers' Outlet). The room is up two narrow, wooden, staircases. Breakfast is laid out so you can help yourself. Please feel free to take a snack with you or ask for anything you need.
Guests are given a door key (to the front door) and can come and go freely once they check in. In hot weather we sometimes open the door to get better ventilation during the day. The shop on the ground floor is operational so please expect to be part of a busy scene until you head upstairs to the quiet refuge of your room. Each room has a door latch so it can be secured from the inside but listed building regulations prevent us from putting locks on individual bedroom doors. Our experience of hosting Cambridge tourists has always been positive and we like an informal atmosphere in our home. There is access to a shared kitchen, shower room and small roof terrace. Heating is fully controlled from within the rooms to enable guests to adjust the temperature to suit their own preferences.
We are available to help but anticipate you will make your own breakfast etc. We will leave a selection of food and drinks, yoghurt, fruit, bread, tea, coffee etc. If you have any particular dietary requirements please let us know.
If driving you can park temporarily in the church car park opposite to unload your bags but then you would need to collect a permit from us. We do prefer guests to arrive before 18:00 if possible as that is when we start to relax for the evening. Check out should be by 10:00. Bags can be left in the shop hallway for travellers who are departing Cambridge later in the day.
Please check in before 18:00 and check out by 10:00 if possible. Bags can be left for collection later but they need to be moved to the hallway.
