My stay at the Bikers House with Mr. Chud and Mrs. Amm was fantastic. They were kind, attentive, and always available for my questions or trips into town (and made sure I had means to get into town when they were helping other guests :). Mr. Chud made a lovely breakfast for the guests every morning, and it was always delicious. One morning when I had to leave at 6am for a trip to an elephant sanctuary, he got up early and got me a bit to go! I was lucky enough to try some of his homemade whiskey, and enjoy a dinner of real spicy Thai food. It burned my lips off and was great.
Bikers House 2 is a charming and rustic unit, with a comfy bed, air conditioning and a bug net if you feel you need either. There are two friendly dogs, some turkeys, chickens, and other birds on the property, and made for pleasant morning background noise The area is outside the main town enough to enjoy some relaxation on one of the hammocks or the swing while looking up at the clouds play over the mountain. Getting to old town is a quick affair, taking ~10 minutes to get there; I'd highly recommend the Saturday and Sunday Night Street Markets. A fun time. The shower/bathroom area is underneath, and other than still being a wuss about taking a cold show, I found it perfectly suitable.
If you're traveling to Chiang Mai and need a good place to stay, I'd highly recommend staying in any of the four units here. Staying with Mr. Chud and Mrs. Amm, and having the chance to enjoy their place, added a great deal of enjoyment to my time in Chiang Mai. I hope to return someday, both to Chiang Mai and to the Bikers House.
